One of the most loved cricketers in India, Rohit Sharma arrived in the middle to bat with Yashasvi Jaiswal after the hosts bowled out England for 246 on Day 1 of the first Test in Hyderabad on Thursday. Rohit produced some fine shots with the bat, scoring 24 runs off 26 balls before getting caught by Ben Stokes on the 27th delivery on the bowling of Jack Leach. But, before departing, Rohit had a moment with a fan in the middle, who breached security to meet the India captain in the middle and touch his feet.
The fan, wearing Virat Kohli's shirt, completely deceived security officials as he reached the pitch to touch Rohit's feet. But, a few seconds later, security arrived and took the fan away. Here's the video:
As for the match, the visitors were off to a decent start with openers Zak Crawley (20) and Ben Duckett (35) adding 55 runs at a fairly good pace before Ravichandran Ashwin gave India their first breakthrough by having Duckett trapped in front of the wicket.
Stokes top-scored with 70 off 88 balls and was the last English wicket to fall, bowled by Jasprit Bumrah (28).
Jonny Bairstow contributed 37 off 58 balls before he was done in by a beautiful delivery from Axar Patel (2/33).
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin bagged three wickets apiece while there were two each for Axar and Bumrah.
Though the England team was expected to play a 'Bazball' style of cricket in the match, it was the Indian opening duo who went hammer-on-tongs from the first ball. By the time Rohit was dismissed on the 2nd delivery of the 12 over, India had already put 80 runs on the board, going over 6 runs per over.
