I-league outfit Mumbai FC have added teenage defender Meldon D'Silva to their squad, the club announced on Thursday.
The 19-year-old central defender said he was delighted with the signing.
"I am very happy to sign for Mumbai FC. This club has some excellent players along with an excellent coach in Khalid Jamil. I am looking forward to playing in the I-League and the Federation Cup and want to win every game with this club," said D'Silva who has played for Dempo SC, Salgaocar Juniors and Wilred Leisure SC (of the Goa Professional League).
He was also part of the Goa (India) team that recently won gold in the Lusofonia Games. He contributed by scoring the first goal of the match and, in the process, the Indian team beat Mozambique 3-2 in the final.
"We are happy to have someone like Meldon in the team. He is a very confident boy and if you look at his youth career you will know that he has had a very strong base. He too is really excited to be a part of the Mumbai FC team. I am sure he will do well here," said Mumbai FC's head coach Jamil.
