Spain lifts Champions Trophy

Semi-finalists at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, Spain have beaten Holland by four goals to win the Men's Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament.

Semi-finalists at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, Spain have beaten Holland by four goals to win the 26th edition of the Men's Champions Trophy Hockey tournament in Lahore, Pakistan. It's the first time that Spain have won this prestigious tournament, their previous best at the Champions Trophy was third place at the 19th edition of the Champions Trophy in Adelaide in Australia in 1997. Holland were the defending champions, having won the last two editions in Cologne in Germany and at home in Amstelveen. The Dutch were not only looking for a hat-trick of wins but were hoping to tie Germany with eight Champions Trophy victories which is the maximum.
