Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida:

Jeev Milkha Singh will have Michael Allen and Martin Laird for company in the first two rounds of the 'fifth major' when the Indian tees off at the USD 9.5 million The Players Championship golf tournament here on Wednesday.

The setback of missing the cut at the Masters by a single stroke fresh in his mind, reigning Asian Tour numbers one Jeev would lead the continent's challenge in the tournament, which is regarded as the unofficial fifth major due to the strength of the field and the huge prize money on offer.

Jeev will play his front nine first, accompanied by the American Allen and Scot Laird.

Jeev looked in great form before the Masters and his fourth place finish at the WGC-CA Championship in Doral brightened his prospect of winning his first title on US soil this year.

Indian-born Daniel Chopra will also feature in the tournament.
