Michael Schumacher's Son All Set to be a Future Formula One Champion

Mick Schumacher, the 15-year-old son of seven-time Formula One world champion Michael, is on his way to becoming a future F1 driver if his recent performances in world kart championships are anything to go by.

Mick, who was runner-up at the world championships in France last month, also finished second in the 2014 German junior kart championships after giving up the lead in the final race last week. He finished eighth in the final round of races, letting his rival David Beckmann win the German title after finishing fourth.

The junior Schumacher's accomplishments in karting this year come as his 45-year-old father battles a major head injury after passing almost six months in coma following a skiing accident in the French Alps last December.

Schumacher races under the name Mick Junior now after having earlier contested under the surname of Betsch, which is his mother Corinna's maiden name. This year he had finished second behind British youngster Enaam Ahmed in FIA's junior world championships in Essay, France. He had then stated that his dream is to compete in Formula One.

"Of course I am proud of such an important result. But it is also clear that it is my goal to be world champion. This is only the beginning of my career," Mick said in September this year.

Interestingly, Mick spends hours with his ailing father each day at his bedside along with his mother Corinna and sister Gina-Marie, who is 17 years old.
