Vasco beat Punjab Police 2-1
Maintaining their winning spree, Vasco Sports Club beat Punjab Police 2-1 in a match of the sixth Tata National Football League in Jalandhar.

Maintaining their winning spree, Vasco Sports Club got the better of Punjab Police 2-1 in a match of the sixth Tata National Football League here today. The victory today pushed Vasco to the second place, one point behind another Goan soccer powerhouse Zee Churchill who have 25 points.
Playing after a remarkable 2-1 victory over Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan, Vasco keen to improve their position further turned on the heat on lowly-placed Punjab Police from the very beginning and led 1-0 at first half through an Agnelo Gomes goal in 36th minute.
Vasco's ace Striker Rui Wanderley whose brace floored Bagan in the previous match, struck his side's second goal today in 63rd minute.
The Cops from Punjab, who were tottering at the bottom of the 12-team league with just 4 points reduced the margin through a penalty goal converted by Gurinder Pal Singh shortly before the final whistle.
Earlier Punjab Police forward Sher Singh missed two opportunities in the first half with Goa's custodian proving to be stumbling block on both the occasion. (PTI)
