Everton central defender Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract extension which keeps him at Goodison Park until after the end of next season, the Premier League club announced Thursday.
The 35-year-old Frenchman's existing deal expired at the end of the current campaign.
Distin, who has made 19 first-team appearances this season, has been an Everton regular since joining from Portsmouth in 2005.
He has also been deployed at left-back when Leighton Baines has been injured but Distin is best known for his partnership with Phil Jagielka at the heart of Everton's defence.
Distin has appeared in all but three of Everton's Premier League matches this season and his new contract follows those signed by Jagielka and their fellow defender Seamus Coleman.
