Ipswich, England:

Former England manager Bobby Robson left the hospital on Monday, two days after falling ill at a soccer match. The 73-year-old Robson was taken to the hospital during Saturday's League Championship game between Ipswich and Crystal Palace. He underwent a series of routine tests at Ipswich Hospital's accident and emergency department before being kept on for observation. The hospital did not give details about the reason for Robson's stay. Robson has had successful surgery for colon cancer and also for a malignant melanoma on his face - the last in 1995. Robson played 584 matches for English clubs Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, then began a managerial career that took him through England, Canada, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands. Robson started managing at Fulham in 1968, but he made his name at Ipswich, where he captured FA Cup and UEFA Cup trophies in his 13 years in charge. He succeeded Ron Greenwood as England coach in 1982, guiding England to the 1986 and 1990 World Cups. He also managed at PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, FC Barcelona and Newcastle. He now works as Ireland's assistant manager. (AP)
