Barcelona:

It is not getting any easy at the top of the Spanish Primera Liga where both Real Madrid and Valencia registered crucial away wins in their quest for the title. Defending Champions Real Madrid travelled to the Sanchez Pijuan stadium to take on hosts Sevilla. With 22 minutes gone, Real were in front after Ivan Helguera's shot took a wicked deflection off teammate Claude Makelele to leave the Seville keeper wrong footed. Roberto Carlos exhibited one of his trade mark free-kicks but luckily for Seville it hit the post. In the last minute of the game Seville had one last chance to equalise but Franciso Gallardo's header was brilliantly tipped over by the Real Keeper. The final score was 1-0 in favour of Real. Valencia vs Tenerife Valencia travelled to the beautiful Canary Islands to take on bottom placed Tenerife. Marti had an early shot on goal but Valencia keeper Santiago Canizares was up to the mark. Valencia had a chance of their own but Pablo Aimar's shot was blocked on the line by Alexi. With 13 minutes left, Pablo Aimar struck a brilliant right footed shot from 25 metres out that gave the Tenerife keeper no chance. The final score was 1-0 to Valencia. There is no change at the top of the table with Real Madrid, the defending champions, still leading Valencia on goal difference. With just six rounds remaining of the La Liga, Deportivo are in third place.
