President Pranab Mukherjee was unlikely to turn up as chief guest for city football giant Mohun Bagan's 125th year celebrations to be held on August 22, a club official said on Monday.
The club was supposed to celebrate the annual day on July 29 as in earlier years as a mark of respect to the team which won the IFA shield against East Yorkshire Regiment on this very day in 1911.
But it was postponed to August 22 with Mukherjee's consent so that he could be present for the celebrations.
"The chances of the President turning up for the function are negligible. His wife is not well, so he may not come here for the celebrations on August 22," a club official told reporters here.
At the ceremony on Saturday, the Mohun Bagan team who clinched the I-League this year will be felicitated besides awarding "Mohun Bagan Ratna" to former footballers Arumay Naigam and Karuna Shankar Bhattacharya.
Only the members would be allowed to attend the ceremony and a lot of other top dignitaries would be present.
