Monaco drew with Chelsea and entered the UEFA Champions League finals for the first time. Monaco again showed their fighting qualities in adversity to recover from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Chelsea that was enough to see them through to the UEFA Champions League finals for the first time. Gronkjaer fired Chelsea ahead. A minute before half time Chelsea wiped out Monaco's first leg advantage with a goal from Lampard. The Blues were 2-0 up before half time, a scoreline that would have taken them through to the Champions' League final. However, Monaco pulled a goal back just before the break and scored again in the second half, leaving Chelsea needing to win 5-2 in order to go through. Fernando Morientes on loan from Real Madrid struck 2 final nails in the Chelsea coffin first in the first half and then on the hour and the blues were bundled out.
