Having lost its prominence in Indian football in the last decade or so, Mohammedan Sporting grabbed a slice of spotlight on Tuesday when the football club offered life membership to Bollywood's superstar Amitabh Bachchan.(All the Latest Football Updates)
Bachchan was in the century-old club on Tuesday during the shooting of his forthcoming film, 'TE3N. The club authorities used the opportunity to felicitate the Bollywood superstar, who promised to attend Sporting's 125th anniversary celebrations.
Housed in Kolkata's famous Maidan, Mohammedan Sporting, once a force in Indian football, now plays in the lower tier of the I-League. The club, once a pride of Kolkata's sports loving Muslim population, has lost its sheen due to administrative and financial issues.
Besides Big B, the club also feted Satyajit Ray's famous private investigator Sabyasachi "Felu-da" Chakrabarty and the club's head coach, Subrata Bhattacharya Jr.
