Bayer Leverkusen confirmed the injury on their website on Saturday, after the former Germany captain underwent a check-up at a Freiburg clinic on Friday night after the match.

The 35-year-old Ballack scored in the second minute of Leverkusen's win, his first Bundesliga goal for more than five years.
