League Cup renamed Capital One Cup from next season

The League Cup has adopted a new moniker and will be known as the Capital One Cup starting the new season. A four-year sponsorship agreement has been signed on with the credit card company, Capital One.

The value of the new deal has not been disclosed.

The 2011-12 Cup, then known as the Carling Cup, was won by Liverpool. They beat Cardiff 3-2 on penalties at the Wembley.

The draw for the first round of the 2012-13 season will be announced on June 14th. The final is scheduled to take place at Wembley on February 24th, 2013.
