Madrid:
Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba is a serious doubt for the Catalans' Champions League opener against Ajax on Wednesday after suffering a thigh muscle tear.
The Spanish international was replaced by Adriano after just 14 minutes of Barca's match against Sevilla on Saturday night.
"Jordi Alba has suffered a torn thigh muscle in his right leg. Tomorrow he will undergo more tests to discover the exact extent of the injury," said a statement on Barca's Twitter feed.
Should the 24-year-old be out for any length of time, Barca coach Gerardo Martino's options at full-back would be severely limited with only the Brazilian duo of Adriano and Dani Alves to choose from.
