Hardip Gill guides JCT to first win in NFL

A brace by striker Hardip Singh Gill helped JCT beat Arlem sponsored Vasco by 2-1 to score their first win in an exciting match in the National Football League here today. JCT, who played an attacking game from the start, dominated the first half and scored a brace through Hardip Singh Gill (9th, 36th) to have them leading 2-0 at half time. Vasco was a disjointed lot in first session but came back strongly in the second half to reduce the margin in the 48th minute through defender Agnelo Colaco. JCT, who won their first match, have collected five points from this win in nine matches, while Vasco, who suffered their second defeat remained on 15 points from as many matches. JCT's Hardip Sangha and Hardip Gill could have increased the lead but Vasco's keeper Ramos, who did not play in the last match against Salgacoar on account of two bookings came to his side's rescue when he left his charge thrice to block sangha and gill shots. Referee Krishan Avtar from Delhi showed yellow card to JCT substitute Taranjit Singh. (PTI)
