Liverpool:
Fernando Morientes has completed his $11.8 million transfer from Real Madrid to Liverpool.
Liverpool have struggled to find a prolific goal scorer since selling Michael Owen to Real in the summer, but Reds manager Rafael Benitez is confident that Morientes can help Liverpool reassert themselves as one of the best sides in England.
Morientes was officially unveiled as a Liverpool player at Anfield on Friday.
Morientes spent eight seasons with Real Madrid and helped the Merengues win three Champions League titles during that period. The 28-year-old also won two Spanish Primera Liga titles with Real.
He is the latest in a long line of Spaniards to follow former Valencia manager Rafael Benitez to Anfield.
Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Josemi and former Real Madrid midfielder Antonio Nunez have all joined Liverpool to varying degrees of success. (AP)
