Fred, Tiago and Karim Benzema scored for Lyon in the Champions League to give the French champions a victory against Steaua Bucharest in Group E.

Fred, Tiago and Karim Benzema scored for Lyon in the Champions League on Tuesday to give the French champions a 3-0 victory against Steaua Bucharest in Group E. Fred broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Portuguese goalkeeper Carlos Fernandes spilled a high ball and the Brazilian striker converted from close range. Tiago added another goal in the 57th when he took advantage of lax defending and headed home from a corner kick. Benzema scored the third in the 89th after receiving a spectacular back-heel pass from Juninho which caught the Steaua defense wrong-footed. From 8 meters (yards), Benzema beat Fernandes with a low shot to the far corner. (AP)
