Vigo:

Valencia travelled to Celta Vigo's Estadio Balaidos looking to build on their superb start to the Spanish domestic season on Sunday.Having lost three of their five matches so far, Celta Vigo were looking to give their fans a boost with their first home win of the 2006/07 campaign. Both sides had chances in an evenly balanced opening but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 40th minute.A deft free kick from David Villa found David Navarro in the box and there was little that keeper Jose Pinto could do to prevent the ball going in.The Galicians equalised just before half-time when Fabian Canobbio won the ball in midfield before finding Fernando Baiano who coolly slotted home to put his side back on level terms.Celta Vigo took a surprise lead in the 52nd minute when Santos Iriney fired the ball past a floundering Santiago Canizares to put the home side into the lead.Four minutes later, Canizares fumbled a speculative shot from Fabian Canobbio into the net to leave his side 3-1 down and needing something special in order to salvage something from the game. The visitors pressed and Fernando Morientes made the most of a mix-up in the Celta Vigo defence to chip the ball over Pinto and cut the deficit. With the home side defending in numbers, Valencia were unable to create many more chances and a red card for substitute Jaime Gavilan Martinez sealed a miserable afternoon for the visitors. The result sees Celta Vigo move up to 12th in the league with Valencia staying in second place but they now trail leaders Barcelona by three points.
