London:

If English champion Arsenal makes an impact this season in the Champions League, Dennis Bergkamp may be the reason. Arsenal has lost five of its last six Champions League games away from friendly Highbury, partially because the Dutchman will not fly. But this season the first three road games, starting with Wednesday's at PSV Eindhoven, are within driving distance of London. Bergkamp was expected to start on Wednesday in his native Netherlands and be available for matches in Auxerre and Dortmund. Arsenal's French coach Arsene Wenger is thrilled to have Bergkamp, who scored in last week's 2-0 victory at Highbury over Borussia Dortmund. "At the moment, he's on fire," Wenger said. "With him, we have one more asset in there as he can dominate a game. Dennis has been through difficult times but I truly believe he loves the club. Even though his position was under threat in the past, he kept on fighting and wanted to stay. He has a lot of respect from everyone for that." PSV coach Guus Hiddink says he could do without facing his fellow Dutchman. "If Bergkamp's not stuck in the tunnel, I expect to see him here," Hiddink said. "It'll be good to see him, I just hope that he doesn't show what he can do while he's here." Eindhoven gained a point from its 0-0 tie last week with French club Auxerre, which goes to Dortmund on Wednesday. The German champion should have top scorer Marcio Amoroso back, but Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky is still missing with back trouble. A slight left calf strain has delayed Ronaldo's long-awaited debut with Real Madrid against Racing Genk on Wednesday. Ronaldo has yet to play with Real Madrid since signing from Inter Milan for $ 44 million at the start of the month. (AP)
