Federation Cup champions East Bengal played out a goal-less draw against Xuan Thanh FC of Vietnam in an away match of AFC Cup at Ho Chi Minh city on Wednesday.
Despite dominating for most of the match, Xuan Thanh failed to find a breakthrough as Nigerian striker Emeka Oguwike and Cameroonian frontman Christian Amougou wasted the best chances for the Vietnamese Cup winners.
Mehtab Hossain of East Bengal got a yellow card in the 52nd minute while Sai Gon's Nguyen Thanh Long was booked in the 81st minute.
With the draw at the Thong Nhat Stadium, East Bengal are equal on four points with Xuan Thanh on top of the Group H table. Xuan Thanh still top the group after two matches, as they have scored more goals than the Kolkata giants.
East Bengal had beaten Malaysian side Selangor 1-0 in their opening match at home on February 27. They next play Tampines Rovers in an away match in Singapore on April 3.
The draw ended East Bengal's 10-match losing streak in away matches of the AFC Cup.
