Tottenham has hired former England assistant coach Franco Baldini as the club's new technical director.
The Italian, who was No. 2 to compatriot Fabio Capello with England, quit his role as general director at Serie A side Roma this month and his new position will involve taking charge of Spurs' scouting and player recruitment.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy says Wednesday "Franco is extremely well respected in the industry, possessing an extensive knowledge of players around the world."
Baldini has also been sporting director at Real Madrid.
Levy adds that Baldini "will strengthen our football management team, particularly in the field of recruitment, working closely with (manager) Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood across all levels on the playing side."
