Social media has been flooded with hilarious memes ever since Manchester City striker Erling Haaland unveiled his new look ahead of his side's Premier League opener on Sunday. Haaland, one of the most easily recognisable sports stars due to his long, tied-back blonde hair, trimmed it before taking the field against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium. The 26-year-old Norwegian also made sure to FaceTime his former Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, after ditching his iconic look.

Haaland also rang Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish and former Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of his footballing idols alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

In a video on Haaland's YouTube channel, Zlatan Ibrahimovic asked if the City striker had "lost a bet" when he was shown the new hairstyle.

"You gonna be faster now, or what?" Ibrahimovic said.
Former City manager Guardiola reacted to the haircut by saying: "You're lucky to have hair. I would love to have it!"
"You look like a f***ing 10 years old. Ah, I love it," said Grealish reacting to the buzz cut.
Meanwhile, Haaland failed to score on the opening day of a Premier League season for the first time since joining Manchester City.
The Cityzens came from a goal down to beat Bournemouth, with defenders Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol scoring late in the second half.
