Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been voted the best player in the 23-year history of the English Premier League. Ronaldo played only six seasons for Manchester United from 2003 to 2009.
According to a report in mirror.co.uk, a survey conducted by Usurv placed Ronaldo above Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs, who finished second and third respectively.
Ronaldo joined the Red Devils in 2003 from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of 12 million pounds.('Ronaldo Worth a Billion Pounds')
The FIFA Ballon d'Or holder had a fine run at Old Trafford which saw him find the back of the net 118 times in 292 games. His exploits saw him named the World Player of the Year in 2008 after inspiring United to a UEFA Champions League triumph.
Real Madrid brought Ronaldo's stint at the Premier League to an end in 2009 when he joined them for what was then a world-record fee of 80 million pounds.(Is Ronaldo the Greatest Footballer of All Time?)
In the survey, as many as 1,000 members of the public were given a choice of 10 players to vote from and invited to select who they thought was the best in the Premier League's history.
The 10 players were: Ronaldo, Henry, Giggs, Eric Cantona, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira.(Ronaldo Deserves Ballon d'Or Ahead of Messi: Fowler)
