Prince Yadav leaked 16 runs in the final over as England posted 387/3 in 50 overs against India in the third and final ODI of the three-match series. Ben Duckett was the top-scorer with 141 runs, while Jacon Bethell scored 91. Apart from them, Joe Root scored an unbeaten 74, while Jos Buttler also remained unbeaten at 41 off just 13 balls. With this, England scripted history as this become the highest-ever total by any team at Lord's. India now need 388 runs to win this match. 

India's problems continue to mount. They have now been penalised for a slow over-rate, which means an extra fielder must move inside the 30-yard circle. As a result, there is no fielder stationed in the deep on the off side.

As England continue to dominate India bowlers with their powerful opening partnership, former batter Ambati Rayudu, who is currently commentating in the match, questioned India's Playing XI. "At this point, I am sure India must be missing the services of spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the lineup." Coming to the over, Shubman Gill changed the strategy and sent Axar Patel into the attack. He conceded six runs in the over.

England are very strong at the moment and India skipper Shubman Gill need to think out of the box.

Sir Garfield Sobers, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders the game has ever produced, passed away at his home in Barbados at the age of 89 on Friday. The players of both India and England are wearing black armbands and have also observed a minute's silence to pay tribute to the West Indies great.

"Jasprit Bumrah sustained an impact injury to his left knee while fielding in the second ODI in Cardiff. He was unavailable for selection for the third ODI due to reactive swelling in his left knee," the BCCI informed about the ace pacer.

England captain Harry Brook has won the toss and opted to bat against India in the series-deciding third ODI match at Lord's London. The visitors have made three changes in their playing XI.

Virat Kohli needs 133 runs to complete 15,000 ODI runs. If he manages to do so, Kohli will become just the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the feat. Tendulkar scored 18,426 ODI runs.

After losing the T20I series 4-0 to England, this is India's last chance to secure a win on the opponents' soil on this tour. The series hangs in the balance, and Shubman Gill and Co. will be eager to clinch this winner-takes-all contest.

England's veteran batter Joe Root has crossed the 50-run mark in each of his last five innings. His scores are 61, 75, 111 not out, 76 not out and 99 not out. His two most recent knocks have come against India in the ongoing series.

While they have included spinner Harsh Dubey for Washington Sundar, expect India to play Kuldeep Yadav today.

Shubman Gill is India's leading run-scorer in the series with 111 runs to his name. Above him is England's Joe Root, who has scored 175 runs. Axar Patel leads the bowling charts with five wickets. He is followed by Jofra Archer and Gurnoor Brar, who have picked up four wickets each.

Rohit Sharma has plenty of support from some former players, including Lalchand Rajput.

“I don't believe in speculation. Unless it happens, then only we can talk about that. I still feel he is good enough to play for a couple of years,” Rajput, who first watched Rohit as a youngster at the National Cricket Academy (now BCCI Centre of Excellence), told PTI.

“He is fit and has worked hard on his fitness. If you look at him now, he looks leaner. The way he batted in the last game, he showed glimpses of the Hitman. I think he is just one good innings away,” said Rajput, who also served as Indian team's manager during the triumphant 2007 ICC T20 World Cup campaign.

England captain Harry Brook was also asked about the chatter over Rohit Sharma's future. However, without getting into the details, Brook lauded both the Hitman and his long-term teammate Virat Kohli for the careers they've had so far. 

"I don't know what's been said about Rohit. They've (Rohit and Kohli) obviously been phenomenal players for many years, and it's good to see them still playing the game," Brook told reporters.

The BCCI rushed to dismiss reports of the Lord's ODI being Rohit Sharma's last, but there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that is not what is said in public. Rohit, at the age of 39, isn't what he was when India lost the final against Australia three years ago. If he intends to play for India in next year's World Cup, mere support from the right people isn't going to do him much good. The Lord's ODI would prove what the 'outside chatter' means for him and the response he wants to give with the bat.
