As a result, a top edge is induced and the ball skies towards backward square leg. Dowrich lines it up and runs towards it. Judges it nicely and takes it on the move. The ball skids off the surface and hits Lakmal's pads in front of the sticks. The umpire has no hesitation in raising his finger. The batsman looks at his skipper and after a little chat, goes for the review. The Hawk Eye shows that the ball would have crashed into the middle and leg stump. Goes wider of the crease once again, bowls it fuller, around off and gets it to straighten from there. Brathwaite has to play at it and all he can manage on that is an edge to the keeper. He got a leading edge off the previous delivery, which was similar to this one. But this time he has no clue and even the best of the best batsman might have not been able to handle it. Rajitha is ecstatic with his first Test wicket and why shouldn't he be! Windies lose one just at the stroke of Lunch.  59/1

59.1 OUT! Plumb in front! Dananjaya gets his first wicket. This is what Sri Lanka need to do, keep on chipping away at the wickets. The offie tosses this one nicely from around the stumps. It is outside off as Smith leans ahead to defend. However, his foot movement is not that assured and he ends up playing down the wrong line, the in-drift causing the same. As a result, he is struck on the pads and the visitors go up in unison. The umpire obliges as well. Smith doesn't take a review. Even if he did, it wouldn't have mattered as the Hawk Eye shows three reds. He departs after playing a good knock.  163/4

41 OUT! Gone! Kumara has his man. He has been a bit wayward at times but has managed to bowl a peach when required. Changes the angle once again, goes 'round the wicket. He lands it on a fullish length and gets it to seam away from the pitch. Powell pushes at the ball tentatively with his front foot still in the air and weight not going into the shot. He gets a thick outside edge and Kusal Mendis from second slip dives across to his right in front of first slip and takes a very good catch. Excellent stuff from the bowler and equally well-supported by the fielding department. Windies lose their second wicket and the dangerous looking 56-run partnership has been broken. 16.2 OUT! BANG! Another one bites the St Lucian dust. A nothing shot from Udawatte. He was looking good out in the middle but couldn't hang on. Not an ideal start for him in Test cricket. Another full ball from Roach on off stump, pushed in and straightening after pitching. The batsman play an uppish drive but the ball goes straight to Devendra Bishoo at mid off, who takes a jumping catch. Sri Lanka are in some trouble. Meanwhile, the skipper, Dinesh Chandimal walks out to bat.  48/4

9.4 OUT! Gabriel tastes first blood with just the fourth ball of the day. Lands it on a fuller length and brings it in with the angle. The ball skids after pitching and wraps him on his pads. Rajitha tries to get his bat down but he's late. The Windies go up in appeal and the umpire obliges after a bit of thinking. He bowled it at 145 kph, an effort ball from Gabriel and he has got the desired result.  34/2

Gabriel has his man and Devon Smith who had dropped Chandimal in the first innings doesn't spill it this time and collects it cleanly to his left. Another delivery well outside off, on a driveable length and de Silva tries to push it through the line with minimal feet movement. The ball holds its line and an outside edge is induced. Smith at first slip pouches it safely. Sri Lanka lose their third wicket and trail by 3 runs. Great start to the day for the hosts.  44/3

57.2 OUT! Rattled! A very, very important wicket for the home side. Gabriel didn't bowl in the last session and he comes back to provide the breakthrough straightaway. From wide of the crease, he angles the ball into to the right-hander, on a good length and it seams in after pitching. Mendis gets his bat down at an angle and also plays away from his body which proves to be his undoing. Ends up chopping it onto his stumps. The umpire checks upstairs regarding Gabriel has overstepped or not. On one occasion he had done so at a crucial stage but this time he is on the money. Kusal is shattered. He was playing really well but now he has to go. The visitors are ahead by 152 runs.  199/6

47.4 OUT! You bet! This is a massive, massive wicket for the Windies! They are over the moon. They had missed a trick when they didn't review a caught behind appeal against Mendis but this time they have got it right. Coming back to the delivery, it is on a shortish length outside off which tempts Chandimal to go for an audacious shot. He does oblige and tries to cut it square of the wicket on the off side but the ball doesn't bounce as much he expected. Hence, the ball seems to have gone just under his bat and carries to Dowrich who takes it and appeals confidently. The rest of the team is in sync with him as well. Holder does challenge the decision. The replays roll in. Oh yes! The Ultra Edge shows a big spike as the ball goes past his bat. There is enough evidence to overturn the decision. OUT flashes on the giant screen. After riding his luck on a few occasions, the Sri Lankan skipper is walking back in disappointment. The 117-run stand has been broken. 81.1 OUT! It is off the gloves! What an outstanding catch. Take a bow, Shane Dowrich. Consecutive 5-wicket hauls in this match for Shannon Gabriel as well, he has been on fire throughout. The hosts needed this wicket badly and it is the second new ball which has come to their rescue. Gabriel bowls this one in the avenue of apprehension and gets the ball to nip in from a length. Silva comes forward tentatively to counter it but it seems that the ball brushes his gloves and flies behind. Dowrich moves swiftly to his left and leaps like a goalkeeper to grab a stunner with his left hand. The Windies appeal and up goes the umpire's finger. However, Silva has a confused look on his face. He is indicating to Dickwella that it might have touched his elbow. Takes the review after some deliberation. The Snicko rolls in and it spots a deflection off the glove. The on-field decision stays. That is the end of a good innings from Roshen Silva, he misses out on his fifty by a couple of runs. That also closes the 99-run stand, a stand which has put Sri Lanka in the ascendancy. 83.1 OUT! 6-fer for Gabriel! He continues to rule the roost at home. A tame dismissal to say the least! Can't blame it though as this is the way he plays. Gabriel runs in from around the wicket and attacks the stumps with a full length delivery. Dickwella makes room and tries to play it over covers but doesn't get any sort of timing behind it. The ball flies towards extra cover where Kieran Powell accepts it gleefully. An entertaining knock from Dickwella nonetheless. He gets a round of applause from his teammates.  307/8

91.4 OUT! BOOM! He is walking back now for sure. Gabriel looks unfazed by the wicket or still unhappy with the no ball two balls back. Whatever it was, he put it in his bowling. He has taken a 8-fer and has also reached 100 Test wickets, something which will please him a lot. Coming back to the ball, he bangs this one short, hits the deck hard and angles it into the body of the batsman. The variable bounce in the pitch means that the ball keeps low this time. Akila looks to duck under it but gets hits on his hanging bat and the ball crashes into the stumps. It's the end of the Sri Lankan innings and the Windies need 296 runs to win this Test match.  342/10

89.5 OUT! Yes, he's gone! Lakmal is right in front of the stumps and the umpire has no hesitation in raising the finger. Gabriel has his 7th of the innings and 12th in the match. He goes fuller and angles it into the right-hander. Lakmal plays down the wrong line off the back foot and is hit on his pads. It looks dead to the naked eye but Suranga goes for a review in desperation, after some discussions with his non-striker. The Ultra Edge doesn't spot anything. Time for the Hawk Eye. It shows that the ball would have hit the top of the leg stump and he has to go. Nice early breakthrough for Windies, just what the doctor ordered! Gabriel has produced the best-ever bowling figures in a match by a Windies bowler at home. He has beaten Sir Curtly Ambrose, who had 11 wickets.  334/9

3.4 OUT! Rajitha, you beauty! What a star he's turning out to be for Sri Lanka. Two wickets in a space of three deliveries to give his side a dream start. Dishes out a similar delivery, on a fullish length, swinging in from the off stump, into Powell and makes him play. The timing is really good on the flick shot but the placement is not. The ball goes straight into the hands of Mahela Udawatte at square leg who is standing a bit up from his normal position and he pouches it safely. Nice attacking captaincy from Chandimal. The visitors are running the show here in St Lucia.  8/2

Lands it on a fuller length and the ball once again nips back in sharply. Hope misses the line while trying to defend it. The ball kisses his gloves, hits below his elbow and then deflects onto the stumps. A huge wicket in the context of the game. Half the Windies side is back in the hut now.  117/5

Then he smartly bowls a fullish delivery around off and it nips back in after pitching. Chase doesn't come forward as he is waiting for a short one probably. The ball gets through the gap between the bat and pad, flicks his back pad and uproots the off pole from the ground. An absolute screamer. Lakmal has a cheeky smile and the entire Sri Lankan team is screaming in joy! A big wicket, just minutes before Lunch.  55/3

Dananjaya has taken off in celebration and his teammates barge towards him. He is looking in good rhythm and has struck at a crucial moment. Coming back to the ball, it is tossed up on off. Dowrich leans ahead a touch and plays for the turn but this one skids off after pitching. Hence, he gets an outside edge and the ball flies towards Dhananjaya de Silva at first slip.
