Rory Burns | 6 | 13 | 1 | 0 | 46.15 |
c Shan Masood b Shaheen Afridi
4.3 OUT! That has gone straight into the hands, feels the third umpire. The soft signal was out as well so nothing much for the third umpire to check. Shaheen Afridi has drawn the first blood and takes down Burns once again. Good length ball around off, Burns pokes at it but with hard hands. This time the ball takes a thick outside edge and goes to Shan Masood at fourth slip. He gets down and pouches the catch. Burns is not sure if that carried but Masood signals it's out. The umpires get together and refer it upstairs with soft signal being out. The replays confirm the same and Burns has to go. 12/1
|
|||||
Dom Sibley | 22 | 47 | 1 | 0 | 46.80 |
lbw b Yasir Shah
18.2 OUT! LBW! Three reds and Sibley has to go. England lose a review as well. Sibley looked troubled a bit against Yasir and he has got his man. Yasir tosses this up around off and middle, Sibley comes down the track and looks to slam it through the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. A massive appeal follows and the umpire raises his finger after taking his sweet time. Sibley and Crawley get together and refer it upstairs. The replays roll in and the Ultra Edge detects no bat. And, it is three reds on the Ball Tracker so Sibley has to go. He takes a review along with him. Pakistan break the threatening stand. 73/2

Zak Crawley | 267 | 393 | 34 | 1 | 67.93 |
st Mohammad Rizwan b Asad Shafiq
132.2 OUT! STUMPED! End of a mammoth innings from Zak Crawley! What an innings from him! He came out to bat when his team were under pressure and he goes back with a score of 267. He should be proud of his effort. He has taken England to a great position. Can you believe that a part-timer has got the wicket of a batsman who was in his 260s? Finally, Pakistan have something to cheer about. Shafiq bowls a floated ball down the leg side, Crawley comes down the track and looks to flick. He misses. Rizwan moves to his left, collects the ball and whips the bails off. Crawley was not even in the picture. Crawley is walking off to a huge round of applause from not only his teammates but also from the Pakistani dressing room. 486/5

Joe Root C | 29 | 51 | 3 | 0 | 56.86 |
c Mohammad Rizwan b Naseem Shah
35.2 OUT! CAUGHT! That is a brilliant take from Rizwan and what a lovely ball from the teenager. Root was looking really good but falls once again after getting a good start. That was unplayable from Naseem. It lands on the perfect length and it is on the perfect line as well. Just around off and on the good length. Root looks to defend but the away movement means the ball takes a thick outside edge and goes to the right of the keeper. It is in front of the first slip fielder but Rizwan moves to his right and pouches it nicely. Good looking stand is broken again by Pakistan before it grow big. 114/3
|
|||||
Ollie Pope | 3 | 15 | 0 | 0 | 20 |
b Yasir Shah
39 OUT! TIMBER! Yasir has got Pope again on the back foot! Brilliant piece of bowling from Yasir and he gets his second wicket. Yasir Shah has been terrific in this series so far and he is doing the job again for his side. Pope had to play Yasir on the front foot and he does not and that brings about his downfall. Quicker delivery on off, Pope is on the back foot to defend but misses and the ball goes onto hit the off stump. The leg spinner had dismissed Pope in the same manner in the second Test match and has got him again. Lovely. 127/4

|||||
Jos Buttler Wk | 152 | 311 | 13 | 2 | 48.87 |
c & b Fawad Alam
144.2 OUT! CAUGHT! An absolute dolly for Fawad Alam! A soft, soft dismissal for Jos Buttler! It ends a magnificent innings from Jos Buttler but it ends in a tame manner. He walks off to a huge round of applause from his teammates! Flatter one on middle, Buttler could have hit it anywhere in the ground but instead chips it back to Alam who accepts it gleefully. First Test wicket for Fawad Alam. 530/6
|
|||||
Chris Woakes | 40 | 54 | 5 | 0 | 74.07 |
c Yasir Shah b Fawad Alam
148.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Woakes falls! He looked to go over the cover fielder but hits it straight to the fielder! Loopy ball outside off, Woakes dances down the track and looks to go over the cover fielder. He does not get the required elevation and it goes straight to Yasir Shah at cover. End of a breezy innings from Woakes. 547/7

154.4 OUT! TIMBER! You miss, I hit says Afridi! Full delivery on middle, Broad looks to heave it to the leg side but misses and the ball goes onto hit the middle stump. England have declared as well. THEY FINISH ON 583 FOR 8. 583/8

2.3 OUT! LBW! Plumb it is and Masood has to go and he takes the review along with him! Masood falls to Anderson again. This is the 8th time that Anderson has dismissed Masood in Tests. This is a peach of a delivery from Anderson. Perfect line and length from him. He dishes a full delivery on middle, nipping in. Masood looks to defend but misses and gets hit on the pads. England put up an appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Masood consults his partner and takes the review. The Ultra Edge shows no bat and the Ball Tracker shows all reds. Masood has to go. He has struggled since that century he got in the first Test. 6/1

Abid Ali | 1 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 14.28 |
c Dom Sibley b James Anderson
4.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Anderson gets another and he is inching closer to 600 wickets in Tests. Pakistan have started miserably. They have already lost 2 wickets and we are only in the 5th over. This is another lovely delivery from Jimmy. Good length ball around off, Abid looks to defend but the ball moves away and takes the outside edge. It goes towards third slip where Sibley takes a good low catch. That's the advantage of standing a little ahead in the slips. 11/2

10.5 OUT! LBW! Anderson gets his 596th Test wicket! What a delivery this is and what a bowler Anderson is. Pakistan's talisman has to go. Good length ball on off, angling in. Azam looks to defend but misses and gets rapped on the pads. Anderson appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Babar does not review as he knows that he is a goner. The Ball Tracker shows that it is umpire's call on hitting the stumps. With that, IT IS STUMPS ON DAY 2. 24/3

|||||
Asad Shafiq | 5 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 62.50 |
c Joe Root b James Anderson
12.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Another wicket falls! Anderson is just three wickets from getting his 600th Test wicket. This was a nothing shot from Asad Shafiq and Pakistan slip further. Poor cricket from the visitors. Anderson is having the time of his life out there. He dishes a good length ball around off, moving away. Shafiq could have left that alone but he looks to defend. It takes the outside edge and goes towards Root at first slip. He makes no mistake and Pakistan are 4 down with just 30 on the board. 30/4
|
|||||
Fawad Alam | 21 | 74 | 1 | 0 | 28.37 |
c Jos Buttler b Dom Bess
36.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Beautifully bowled from Bess! Bowls it on the rough and gets the reward. Fawad Alam's fight is over in this innings and he walks back to the pavilion. Pakistan are struggling. Bess flights this one on off, it spins away. Fawad Alam prods forward in an attempt to defend. It takes the faintest of edges back to Buttler who takes a good catch. England appeal and up goes the finger. Alam knew it as well and turns back to go to the pavilion. He fought hard in the middle but needed to stay there a bit longer. 75/5
|
|||||
Mohammad Rizwan Wk | 53 | 113 | 5 | 1 | 46.90 |
c Jos Buttler b Chris Woakes
75.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! What a catch from Jos Buttler! Excellent stuff from the England keeper! This was a nothing delivery and it has fetched Woakes a wicket. Rizwan will feel unlucky and he has to go after playing a gutsy knock but he needed to be out there. Woakes dishes a good length ball on the pads, Rizwan looks to flick but it goes off the edge towards the left of the keeper. Buttler dives to that side and takes a magnificent catch. England appeal and up goes the finger. Rizwan has to walk back. 213/6
|
|||||
Yasir Shah | 20 | 24 | 2 | 0 | 83.33 |
c Joe Root b Stuart Broad
81.2 OUT! CAUGHT! The new ball does the trick for England! This is a good catch from Joe Root as it was travelling quickly. Broad gets his first wicket. Beautiful delivery from Broad and he fully deserves the wicket. Good length ball around off, moving away. Shah looks to defend but it bounces extra and it takes the outside edge. It goes to first slip where Root takes it over his head. England just three wickets away from bowling Pakistan out. 241/7
|
|||||
Shaheen Afridi | 3 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 37.50 |
c Jos Buttler b Stuart Broad
85.1 OUT! Caught! Brilliant! Outstanding catch from Buttler! Wow! What a turnaround, in form Buttler has had, both with the bat and with the gloves behind the stumps. Broad bangs it in short around the body. Shaheen looks to glance it fine down the leg side. The ball kisses the edge and flies to the right of Buttler. He wears his Superman boots, flies to that side and takes a superb one-handed stunner. England 2 wickets away now from wrapping up this innings. 247/8
|
|||||
Mohammad Abbas | 1 | 10 | 0 | 0 | 10 |
run out (Stuart Broad)
89 OUT! RUN OUT! That was absolute chaos! First a dropped catch but Abbas who was ball watching has not made his ground at the keeper's end. The frustration will not end though for Anderson! He has had three dropped catches off his bowling in his last two overs. England just one wicket away from bowling Pakistan out! Good length ball on middle, Ali pushes it uppishly towards mid on where Broad makes a mess of an easy catch. Ali who wants the single takes off but Abbas who is watching the ball is late to take off. Broad collects the ball and has a shy at the keeper's end and hits. No need for the third umpire as Abbas was well out of the crease. Broad apologizes to Anderson after that. 261/9

c Dom Sibley b James Anderson
93 OUT! CAUGHT! Finally, a catch is taken and Anderson gets his five-fer. 29th 5-fer in Tests! Brilliant stuff from Anderson! Good length ball outside off, Naseem looks to defend but it takes the outside edge and it goes to the third slip region where Sibley takes a good low catch. PAKISTAN HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 273. 273/10

23.4 OUT! LBW! Umpire's call it is and Masood has to go! His fight in this innings is over! Excellent delivery from Broad and he deservedly gets a wicket. This partnership comes to an end but needed to continue. Masood showed promise but fails to carry on. Good length ball around off, angling in. Masood looks to leave it alone but gets rapped on the pads. England appeal and the umpire raises his dreaded finger. Masood thinks for a while and signals for the 'T'. The Ball Tracker rolls in and it shows that it is umpire's call on hitting the stumps. The impact will not matter as there was no shot played. Masood has to walk back. Pakistan do not lose the review. England are 9 wickets away. 49/1

Abid Ali | 42 | 162 | 2 | 0 | 25.92 |
lbw b James Anderson
49.5 OUT! LBW! Umpire's call it is and Abid Ali has to go! Wicket number 599 for Anderson! What a bowler he has been for England! Finally, something goes right for him. Can he get to 600 wickets before Stumps? This is terrific bowling from Anderson and he is pumped up. Good length ball on middle and leg, Abid looks to flick but misses and gets hit on the pads. England appeal and Michael Gough, the on-field umpire, raises the dreaded finger. Abid consults his partner and takes the review. The Ultra Edge rolls in and is shows no bat on it while the Ball Tracker shows umpire's call on hitting the stumps. Abid Ali played really well and fought really hard but it has ended and he has to walk back. Review retained. 88/2

Azhar Ali C | 31 | 114 | 2 | 0 | 27.19 |
c Joe Root b James Anderson
61.2 OUT! There it is! A mountain no pace bowler has been able to scale before, Jimmy Anderson has scaled that as well. Joins an elite list of Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble to become only the 4th player and the first pace bowler to get 600 Test wickets. What a milestone! Take a bow legend! With that mystical number, Anderson carves his name into history books and enters the Mount Rushmore of greatest ever Test bowlers. It has been a frustrating wait from wicket 598 to 600 but he has got it. Azhar Ali becomes a milestone victim for Jimmy and his expressions have changed. He is up in joy and has the ball in hand and waves it to the empty stands but all his teammates applaud. Finally Anderson gets a bit of help from the slip. Anderson bowls it in the channel of uncertainty around off, the ball bounces a bit off the surface which takes Azhar by surprise. He looks to defend it with a horizontal bat but the extra bounce surprises Azhar, takes the outside edge of his bat and goes to Root at widish first slip. The England skipper makes no mistakes and takes the catch. A perfect role model for all the youngsters in the world watching this game. Anderson has aged like a fine wine! 109/3

79.4 OUT! Caught! A wicket against the run of play. Root has a wicket to his name. Asad's poor series comes to an end. Had a chance to get some runs today but he has failed to take that. Tossed up delivery on middle and off, it spins in a bit. Asad looks to defend but the ball takes an inside edge, clips the pad and goes low to short leg. Substitute Bracey takes a very good catch. 4 down, the new ball around the corner and anything can happen here. 172/4
