A tall, right-arm medium pacer with a flair for consistent line and length, Pankaj Singh was born in Uttar Pradesh, but debuted in first-class cricket for Rajasthan in the 2004-05 season. With a consistent performance since his debut, he bagged a place in the U-19 Indian team and India A. In 2006, he took 21 wickets at an impressive average of 20.95, taking Rajasthan to the final of the Ranji Plate League. The following year, he was included in India A’s twin tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya where he scalped 18 wickets and booked his place in the team for the home series against South Africa A. Subsequently, he was included in India’s Test squad for the Australia tour. Pankaj was also a part of India’s limited over side for the 2010 Triangular Series in Zimbabwe, in the absence of senior players; where he debuted against Sri Lanka.
Pankaj was signed by the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL season, before moving to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009. He was once again bought by the Rajasthan Royals in 2011. However, he was traded back to the Challengers in 2013 for the sixth season.
