Pakistan have nose-dived today! They were 281/3 at the start but slipped to 351 all out in the morning session. It was a low-key morning session, not much intensity shown by the Kiwi players but their bowling was tidy and effective. Mark Craig claimed a 7-fer and was all over the Pakistani batting line-up like a rash. Mohammad Hafeez was unlucky to miss out on his maiden double ton by just 3 runs but batted really well throughout his innings. New Zealand have to bat one over before the lunch break, so stay tuned...

A big loss to the cricketing fraternity, in the form of Phillip Hughes, who lost his life yesterday. In honour of Phillip Hughes, Day 2 of the Pakistan-New Zealand Test was called off and is to be continued today. It will be difficult for the players to get over this tragic incident and concentrate on the game for a while. Pakistan are 281/3 at the moment, Hafeez is nearing a double century. DAY 2 - PLAY ABANDONED! Due to the tragic demise of PHILLIP HUGHES earlier this morning, the two boards met and discussed to 'not play' today. This is a very good act of respect shown by both the boards. It would have been very stressful and tough for the players to concentrate out in the middle after the shocking news. The Test match has been extended by a day which means tomorrow will be day 2 while day 5 will be on Monday.

Meanwhile, tweets coming in from many cricket players around the world. Virat Kohli tweets, "Shocked and saddened by the news of Phil Hughes. Horrible day for cricket. RIP Phil and may your family gain the strength to cope."

Confirmation comes in that the play has been suspended for an hour. Both the boards are discussing whether to play or not.

Tough day for the whole cricket world. PHILLIP HUGHES PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 25. It will be difficult for the players to concentrate on the game, after hearing the sad news of his tragic demise, earlier this morning. Ali had a loss of concentration just after drinks and he edged one off Craig. Vettori then trapped Khan in front of the stumps to get the game back in the balance. Hafeez though has looked good and carried his impressive show to score a ton. The game hangs in balance, the hosts will want to carry on and build the platform while the visitors will wish to take wickets and peg them back. It will be an interesting battle.
