lbw b Naseem Shah
35.1 OUT! LBW! Oh, the reverse-swing finally works! Naseem Shah strikes and gets a big wicket of Tom Latham! The young man is pumped up and rightly so, he deserves this wicket as he created something with his reverse-swing here when nothing was going right for Pakistan. He serves it on a fullish length and angles it on middle and leg from 'round the wicket. Latham tries to flick it but loses his balance and misses it to get hit on the pads. Naseem Shah makes a huge appeal and the umpire raises his finger this time. Latham has a long discussion with his opening partner but finally decides against taking the DRS. He departs for a well-made fifty! 134/1

c Sarfaraz Ahmed b Agha Salman
62.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Devon Conway gets a faint edge on this one and has to depart after a really good knock He will be very disappointed with the way he gave away his wicket here. Agha Salman has brought some hope back into the Pakistan dressing room. It is a loopy delivery, outside off. It grips and turns away. Devon Conway is unsure of how to deal with the delivery and ends up hanging his blade away from his body. The ball takes the faintest of edges and Sarfaraz Ahmed makes no mistake behind the sticks. 234/2

Kane Williamson | 36 | 91 | 5 | 0 | 39.56 |
c Sarfaraz Ahmed b Naseem Shah
63.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Another one bites the dust. This is turning out to be a golden period for Pakistan. The Kiwis now lose their third wicket. Naseem Shah serves a length ball, in the channel and gets it to shape away off the deck. Kane Williamson is drawn into it and tries to block it away without any foot movement. The ball takes a thick outside edge and flies to the right of the keeper. Sarfaraz Ahmed there dives to his right to take a solid catch. 240/3

Henry Nicholls | 26 | 56 | 3 | 0 | 46.42 |
c Sarfaraz Ahmed b Agha Salman
79 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Excellent review by Babar Azam! Agha Salman picks up his third wicket and that means that New Zealand have lost half of their side now. This is short and quicker outside off. Henry Nicholls tries to cut it but seems to have missed it. However, Babar Azam seem to have heard something and after a brief discussion, he takes the DRS. The replays roll in and the UltraEdge shows a spike as the ball passes the bat and the decision of not out is overturned. Brilliant from the Pakistani skipper as Sarfaraz Ahmed, the wicketkeeper did not even appeal. 278/5

|||||
Daryl Mitchell | 3 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 21.42 |
b Agha Salman
68.5 OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Agha Salman gets his second wicket and Pakistan are turning it on after Tea! This is a classical off-spinner's wicket. Tosses it up on off. Daryl Mitchell leans forward to work it towards the leg side. However, the ball turns into the batter and goes through the gap between bat and pad to knock over the stumps.The fifth bowler is doing the trick for Pakistan and they would like to capitalize on this opening now. 255/4

Tom Blundell Wk | 51 | 108 | 6 | 0 | 47.22 |
b Abrar Ahmed
104.1 OUT! TIMBER! Well, Abrar Ahmed strikes right after the drinks break. Pakistan will be feeling great now. It is a carrom ball, on middle and leg, that stays very low off the deck. Tom Blundell rocks back but is unable to push it away to safety. The ball sneaks under his blade to shatter the stumps. 340/8
|
|||||
Michael Bracewell | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
lbw b Abrar Ahmed
79.3 OUT! LBW! Another one bites the dust as New Zealand lose their sixth now. Michael Bracewell walks back for a duck. Ahmed pitches it on off and turns into Michael Bracewell. He tries to defend it but misses it altogether and gets hit on the pads. Abrar Ahmed makes a loud appeal and the umpire raises his finger immediately. Michael Bracewell knows he is gone and does not even bother to take the DRS. Pakistan are right on top now. 279/6

Ish Sodhi | 11 | 33 | 2 | 0 | 33.33 |
b Naseem Shah
91.4 OUT! BOWLED! Naseem Shah strikes in his fourth delivery of the day and New Zealand now lose their seventh. This is a perfect delivery, lands it on a good length, on off and it seams away just a bit to beat the outside edge of Sodhi's blade as he tries to defend it. The ball hits the top of the off stump and Naseem Shah who was the pick of the bowlers on Day 1 has started Day 2 in a fine fashion here. Third wicket for the young man! 309/7

106.1 OUT! STUMPED! Abrar Ahmed is on a roll this morning. He gets his third wicket of the innings. It is tossed up, outside off. Tim Southee dances down the track and looks to go downtown but gets beaten by the away turn this time. Sarfaraz Ahmed is quick to gather the ball and clip the bails in a flash. He thinks he has got his man here. The umpire takes it upstairs to confirm. The replays show that Tim Southee had his back leg in the air. 345/9

c Ajaz Patel b Matt Henry
7.5 OUT! CAUGHT! The pair for the last wicket stand for the Kiwis have an instant impact in the field as well as they both combine for the first wicket. Matt Henry strikes early on and the Kiwis would surely be delighted to see the back of Abdullah Shafique who looked to be in good touch. It is a short ball, on off. Abdullah Shafique swivels and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket. He could not keep his shot under control and Ajaz Patel takes a sharp catch in the deep to spread silence across the stadium. 27/1

Imam-ul-Haq | 83 | 165 | 10 | 1 | 50.30 |
c Tom Blundell b Tim Southee
59.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! New Zealand have the breakthrough and it is the big wicket of Imam-ul-Haq as he walks back 17 runs short of what would have been a wonderful century! This is bowled on a good length but wide outside off. Imam-ul-Haq who has been really disciplined so far goes for a wild swing at the ball but does not connect cleanly. Tom Blundell collects the ball behind the wicket and all the players go up in appeal straight away. They are convinced that there is an edge but the umpire thinks otherwise. Tim Southee opts for the review and Imam-ul-Haq looks slightly worried. UltraEdge shows that there is a tiny spike when the ball passes the toe end of the bat and the onfield decision has to be reversed. Pakistan are four wickets down now and with this partnership broken, New Zealand have an opportunity to get some quick wickets. 182/4

Shan Masood | 20 | 11 | 4 | 0 | 181.81 |
c Devon Conway b Ajaz Patel
11 OUT! CAUGHT! Oh dear, Shan Masood tries to put this poor delivery away for a boundary but holes out instead. He should've left this one, given the runs he had racked up in the over already. Very poor shot selection by Masood. This is a short ball, outside off and a bit quicker. Shan Masood rocks back and tries to cut it away. Although, he hits it straight down the throat of Devon Conway at backward point who makes no mistake. Ajaz Patel joins his partner in crime, Matt Henry in the wicket's column. 56/2

Babar Azam C | 24 | 41 | 3 | 1 | 58.53 |
run out (Henry Nicholls / Michael Bracewell)
24.2 OUT! RUN OUT! Massive, massive miscommunication between the batters and Babar Azam pays the price! This is a flatter delivery on middle. Imam-ul-Haq goes back and works it towards the deep mid-wicket region. The batters take the first run quickly. Azam takes the second quickly as well while Imam-ul-Haq is tad slow in the second run. He is ball watching and as Azam runs for the third, Imam-ul-Haq sends his partner back way too late as he is in no positon to take that third run. The throw comes in from Henry Nicholls at the bowler's end and Babar Azam is nowhere in the picture as Michael Bracewell whips the bails off. Babar Azam is not a happy man and rightly so, he wass looking so good out there. New Zealand have got a bonus wicket! 99/3

st Tom Blundell b Daryl Mitchell
99.3 OUT! STUMPED! Some exceptional glovework from Tom Blundell has provided his side with a much-needed breakthrough. Fuller, sliding down leg. Ahmed misses his flick. The keeper gathers it cleanly and whips the bails off. The square leg umpire takes it upstais to confirm. The UltraEdge confirms no bat is involved. The side-on angle suggests that Sarfaraz Ahmed gets his back foot inside the crease, but it looks like Ahmed lifts his leg a touch once the keeper takes the bails off. This is going to be close. New Zealand players are already celebrating here as there seems to be some gap between the foot and the floor. The third umpire though is still having a closer look at it. The big screen shows OUT! WOW! Just incredible. Daryl Mitchell strikes on his third delivery and Sarfaraz Ahmed has to walk back on 78 runs. He will be surely gutted. New Zealand have a sniff here. 332/5

Agha Salman | 41 | 78 | 7 | 0 | 52.56 |
c Michael Bracewell b Ajaz Patel
124.3 OUT! CAUGHT AT SLIPS! Ajaz Patel gets his second wicket and has broken the stand which was cutting down the deficit for run. Brilliant catch by Michael Bracewell at first slip, he gathers it on his second attempt. It is looped up, full and outside off. Agha Salman gets down on one knee and goes for the sweep. All he manages to get is a top edge. The ball lobs to the right of Michael Bracewell at first slip. The fielder dives to his right and gets a hand on it but it spills out, although Michael Bracewell keeps his eyes on the ball and makes the most of the second bite. 385/6

Hasan Ali | 4 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 80 |
c Devon Conway b Ajaz Patel
126.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Ajaz Patel gets another wicket here. Hasan Ali holes out this time. It is a short ball, around off. Ali rocks back and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket. The ball goes very high in the air, but it is hit straight down the throat of Devon Conway in the deep. He juggles it once before pouching it safely near the ropes. Pakistan are falling apart here. 393/7

Naseem Shah | 4 | 8 | 1 | 0 | 50 |
b Ish Sodhi
128.4 OUT! TIMBER! Ish Sodhi gets his first wicket and Pakistan are crumbling here! Ish Sodhi serves a googly on a shorter length and gets it to come back into the stumps from outside off. Naseem Shah make room to play this through the off side but misses the ball and watches his stumps get shattered. Pakistan lose their eighth wicket and after controlling the entire day find themselves once again on the back foot. New Zealand will now be looking to wrap up the tail before stumps. 397/8
|
|||||
Mir Hamza | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Ish Sodhi
128.5 OUT! BOWLED! Ish Sodhi is on a HAT-TRICK and New Zealand have dug deep to wrench the advantage back in their favor. Ish Sodhi flights this one full and outside the off pole. Mir Hamza takes a long stride forward and looks to defend this but leaves a gap between bat and pad. The ball turns sharply after pitching and creeps into the gap to peg back the stumps. The New Zealand players are ecstatic as they have had very little to cheer all day but they will be delighted by the fact that they still have the advantage in this game. Just one wicket more to put an end to Pakistan's inning and it will be Abrar Ahmed who makes his way out to the crease. 397/9

He gets rapped on his pads. It looks plumb and the umpire raises his finger. The review also does not save the batter here as the Ball Tracking confirms three reds. 408/10
