Suzie Bates | 4 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 57.14 |
b Shabnim Ismail
2.4 OUT! BOWLED! Finally, she pitches this one up and gets the desired result, Shabnim Ismail strikes early! This one is on a fuller length around off. Bates goes for a big booming drive but the ball swings quite a bit into her. There is a gap left between bat and pad, and the ball beats the inside edge of her blade to shatter the stumps. Big wicket for South Africa Women. Smart bowling from Shabnim Ismail, she was getting the ball to curve away and surprised the batter with a big inswinger. Suzie Bates didn't pick it at all and the look on her face tells the entire story. Outplayed. 6/1

Sophie Devine C | 93 | 101 | 12 | 1 | 92.07 |
b Ayabonga Khaka
40.2 OUT! KNOCKED HER OVER! A big, big wicket for South Africa Women! Ayabonga Khaka nails a perfect yorker to get rid of White Ferns' skipper. A yorker on middle at 98 kph. Devine stays deep in her crease and looks to heave it across the line but misses. The ball shatters the stumps after getting deflected off her pads and this can make a difference of good 20-30 runs to the final score. Brilliant stuff from Ayabonga Khaka and you need deliveries like these to get rid of a player of Sophie Devine's calibre. 198/5

Amelia Kerr | 42 | 58 | 5 | 0 | 72.41 |
lbw b Sune Luus
18.5 OUT! PLUMB LBW! Sune Luus strikes for her team to break the 81-run stand. Won't call it a wicket-taking delivery, it's more of a mistake from the batter to miss out on a straightforward full toss. Nicely tossed up, around middle, Amelia Kerr goes down to sweep but misses and is pinged on the front pad. They appeal and the finger has gone up. No DRS is taken by Amelia Kerr as she walks back after having a word with Sophie Devine. South Africa Women desperately needed this breakthrough and would now like to regain some control. 87/2

Amy Satterthwaite | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 33.33 |
c Trisha Chetty b Ayabonga Khaka
19.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! What a bowling change by Sune Luus, truly inspirational. All of a sudden, South Africa Women have got two wickets and are back on top. This one is served on a good length, close to off and angling away, Amy Satterthwaite tries to cut close to her body but only manages an outside edge to the keeper. Trisha Chetty makes no mistake and New Zealand Women have lost a couple of big wickets in the space of 4 balls. 88/3

Maddy Green | 30 | 58 | 1 | 0 | 51.72 |
run out (Laura Wolvaardt / Trisha Chetty)
35.2 OUT! Run out! Maddy Green eventually runs out of her luck and is found short in the replays. The 80-run stand has been broken and South Africa Women would be aiming to finish strong from hereon. Tossed up, around off and spinning away, Sophie Devine taps it down to point and looks for a run. Maddy Green hesitates just for a moment and that probably has cost her. Laura Wolvaardt parries it to the keeper who takes the bails off quickly. It's referred upstairs and Green is given the red signal. 168/4

Brooke Halliday | 24 | 29 | 1 | 0 | 82.75 |
b Marizanne Kapp
45.4 OUT! BOWLED! Full tosses certainly have been wicket-taking deliveries. It's a juicy one, around middle and leg at 114 kph, Brooke Halliday tries to swing across the line but misses. It thuds on her pads and gets deflected onto the stumps. Marizanne Kapp has her first wicket and smiles as she raises her arms. New Zealand Women continue to lose wickets in the end overs. 220/7
|
|||||
Katey Martin Wk | 9 | 8 | 1 | 0 | 112.50 |
b Shabnim Ismail
42.3 OUT! BOWLED! What a comeback by Shabnim Ismail! She is pumped up and it's another wicket for South Africa Women! Lands this on a length around off and it nips back in sharply at 119 kph. Martin is cramped for room and is beaten by both pace and movement. She is late to get her bat down and it sneaks through to rattle the stumps. Shabnim Ismail gives a sendoff to Katey Martin who also responds with some gestures of her own. Things heating up certainly. New Zealand are losing the plot at the backend. 210/6

Hannah Rowe | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Trisha Chetty b Marizanne Kapp
45.5 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! One brings two for Marizanne Kapp. She hurls it across on a fuller length outside off, Hannah Rowe tries to drive it through the line but it goes below her bat to the keeper. Trisha Chetty collects and doesn't appeal much but Marizanne Kapp is appealing. Nothing from the umpire. Sune Luus takes the DRS and the UltraEdge detects a spike as the ball leaves the toe end of Rowe's bat. Marizanne Kapp is on a hat-trick. 220/8
|
|||||
Lea Tahuhu | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Shabnim Ismail
46.4 OUT! Sound of timber! The stumps have taken quite a beating in this match, this is the fifth bowled dismissal. Shabnim Ismail keeps it on a length and in the line of the stumps, at 122 kph, Lea Tahuhu steps back and tries to heave it over the leg side but misses. The sticks are obliterated and New Zealand Women have now lost their last 5 wickets for 23 runs. 221/9

|||||
Jess Kerr | 6 | 6 | 1 | 0 | 100 |
c Marizanne Kapp b Ayabonga Khaka
47.5 OUT! CAUGHT AT POINT! Slower one, on a length and outside off, Jess Kerr reaches out and hits it uppishly towards point. Marizanne Kapp takes a fine low catch and New Zealand Women are bowled out for 228 - wasting 13 precious deliveries. 228/10

run out (Sophie Devine / Katey Martin)
5.4 OUT! RUN OUT! Ohh...this is disastrous for South Africa Women. They were looking so good but Lee has to walk back now in a bid to steal the third run. This is served fuller on off, Laura Wolvaardt drives it through covers and the batters take two. Suzie Bates has chased it down in the deep and now Laura Wolvaardt wants the third run on the throw. Lizelle Lee never looked ready for the third run but then decides to respond to the call. Meanwhile, in the deep, Bates parries it to Sophie Devine, an excellent tag-team effort and the skipper fires in a flat but weak throw to the keeper. Now, here is the brilliance and smart thinking from Katey Martin. She realizes that the throw won't get to her in time and hence collects the ball ahead of the stumps and flicks it to dislodge the bails. Lizelle Lee has put in a dive to get in but looks to be in trouble. The third umpire is referred and the replays find Lee short of the crease. Matter of a microsecond, had Lee responded a bit early she would have made it safely, also had Martin not collected the ball ahead of the stumps, that would have given Lee some extra time to get in. 25/1

Laura Wolvaardt | 67 | 94 | 6 | 0 | 71.27 |
lbw b Amelia Kerr
35.5 OUT! LBW! Amelia Kerr does the trick and New Zealand Women have finally broken through and dangerous Laura Wolvaardt walks back to the pavilion. This is flatter and pitches around leg. Laura Wolvaardt gets across and looks to work it towards the leg side. She misses and the ball hits her pads and there is a big appeal from the bowler. The umpire raises the finger. Laura Wolvaardt takes the review but the UltraEdge shows no bat is involved. The Ball Tracking rolls and it shows three reds, so the original decision stays and New Zealand Women get an important breakthrough. 161/3

Tazmin Brits | 18 | 38 | 3 | 0 | 47.36 |
st Katey Martin b Amelia Kerr
17.5 OUT! STUMPED! A classic leg spinner's wicket, this! Amelia Kerr tosses this up in the air, around off. Brits skips down the track and then looks to defend it as she fails to reach the pitch of the ball. However, the ball turns away and beats the outside edge of her blade. Martin, behind the stumps, collects the ball and whips the bails off in a flash. They appeal, it's referred and the replays find Tazmin Brits short of the crease. Also, it appears that Amelia Kerr had sensed the charge and that's why she shortened the length slightly. Great anticipation. 156 needed off 193 balls. 73/2

Sune Luus C | 51 | 73 | 4 | 0 | 69.86 |
c Katey Martin b Hannah Rowe
40.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Game on, Sune Luus is gone and it's game on now! Hannah Rowe has earned the prized scalp and this match is heading towards a thrilling finish now. Nothing special with the delivery. It's served on a fuller length outside off, Sune Luus tries to drive but gets a feather behind to the keeper and Katey Martin gets yet another dismissal to her name in this match. 59 needed off 59 balls. The replays showed that it was a slower one and credit goes to Hannah for deriving that false shot. 170/5

c Katey Martin b Amelia Kerr
37.3 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Amelia Kerr gets another one and New Zealand Women are still in it! This is flatter and outside off, slightly shorter in length too. Mignon du Preez looks to cut but the ball catches the outside edge of her blade and Katey Martin behind the stumps takes a sharp catch. Amelia Kerr is turning it on for New Zealand, is there a twist in the tale? 166/4

c Amelia Kerr b Frances Mackay
45.1 OUT! TAKEN! Ohh... Chloe Tryon what have you done! This is a big wicket for New Zealand Women and Chloe Tryon is furious with herself! This is tossed up on off and Tryon senses an opportunity to go for a big one. She dances down the track and heaves it towards the deep mid-wicket region. But it's the bigger side of the ground and it goes straight down the throat of Amelia Kerr and she makes no mistake. This game is getting quite intense and tight! 198/6

Trisha Chetty Wk | 3 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 75 |
c & b Frances Mackay
47.1 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Needless from Trisha Chetty and she pays the price for going for a big shot. This is slower in the air, on off. Chetty goes low and looks to slog-sweep it but gets a huge top edge. The ball goes high in the air and Frances Mackay takes a step back and settles under to take a fine catch near the stumps at the non-striker's end. This game is still not over folks! 211/7

Shabnim Ismail | 4 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 80 |
b Sophie Devine
48.2 OUT! BOWLED! Shabnim Ismail took a risky route of going for a big shot with just run-a-ball needed and pays the price! Length delivery on middle and leg by Devine from 'round the wicket. Shabnim Ismail makes room and looks to hit it towards the off side. She misses and the ball shatters the stumps. Can Sophie Devine close this over with four good balls to create more drama? 217/8
