Karachi:
Former skipper Moin Khan has slapped a defamation notice on the Pakistan cricket Board, seeking an apology for defaming him in connection with the Indian Cricket League (ICL) issue.
Moin's lawyer, Imran Qureshi said that for a long time Moin had been tolerating statements from the Board officials regarding his involvement in the ICL.
"I have served a notice to Pakistan Cricket Board. That they have been defaming my client Moin Khan regarding the ICL. Moin has been the captain of the Pakistan Cricket team. Due to these statements, his personality has been defamed in front of the public of Pakistan," Qureshi said.
"He has also suffered defamation in the international cricket world.. PCB should apologise in a written statement that Moin has no concern whatsoever regarding the ICL agreement. Secondly, they have to pay an amount of 100 million as damage to his personality," Qureshi added.
He insisted that his client would definitely take a legal action, according to the law but for the time being is waiting for the Board's reaction.
The PCB has included Moin's name in the legal battle they are fighting on behalf of senior batsman, Mohammad Yousuf with the ICL.
The Board claims that Yousuf had returned an advance of USD 82,000 he got from the ICL for entering into a contract with them to Moin who was acting as an agent on behalf of the ICL signing on players for them.
But Moin claims he has nothing to do with this as the ICL deals are being handled by a sports marketing and promotion company from Lahore. The ICL also in their presentation to the arbitrator, who has stopped Yousuf from playing for any rival league until the case is decided, have said that Moin was not their agent.
