The two captains hold the trophy and pose for the photographs. We all waited so long for a game but it never happened due to the rain. Afghanistan will be relatively happier with the result as they lost the T20Is but came back well in the ODIs. Whereas the tied series means that the Windies' chances of automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup lie in danger now. They will be hosting India for 5 ODIs followed by a one-off T20I and will aim to do better against them. Do join us for that starting on June 23rd. Until then, it's goodbye and take care!
RASHID KHAN is the MAN OF THE SERIES for his brilliant show in the two games. He would have been disappointed on missing out today.
1900 local time update - "That's it. Relentless rain forces the match to be called off and the series ends 1-1", tweets Cricket West Indies. So it's official, the conditions unfortunately haven't improved and we've more or less run out of time. Quite sad really, for both teams involved. For all the fans too, could have been in for some good cricketing action. The series ends tied 1-1.
1842 local time update - Not much to write about. Cricket West Indies have tweeted - "It's still raining and the wait continues." Fingers crossed, we get a game.
1642 local time update - THE DRIZZLE IS BACK! Now then, the wait prolongs for us. Hopefully, we will have good news soon.
West Indies skipper, Jason Holder says they wanted to bowl in the overcast conditions. Mentions they have one forced change, Shannon Gabriel is out injured and Miguel Cummins takes his place. Ends by saying it's a must-win game and hopefully there's a full game of cricket.
Afghanistan skipper, Asghar Stanikzai says that they will bat first. Feels that the conditions are going to be crucial as the ground is wet. Calls it a very important game. Informs that there are two changes, Samiullah Shenwari and Amir Hamza go out for Fareed Ahmad and Nasir Jamal.
TOSS - Afghanistan win the toss and opt to bat.
Due to the delay, we have lost quite a few overs. The game will be 43-OVERS-PER-SIDE. We will update on the rules as and when we get more information on it.
Afghanistan on the other hand will know that things slipped out of their fingers in the first innings itself when they were bundled out for a low score. That they managed to fight was due to the threat of Rashid Khan. They will hope for a better batting performance which will allow their bowlers to dominate proceedings. Should be a good game of cricket.
So after the long and lengthy rain delay, hello everyone and welcome to the coverage of the third and final ODI between West Indies and Afghanistan at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia. The hosts came back in the series after a stumbling win in the previous fixture. They will aim to win the series with a clinical show today.
