Pakistan will be brimming with confidence as they gear up for the second Test against West Indies, aiming for a whitewash to seal the series. Their dominant win in the first Test wasn’t as easy as the scoreboard suggested, as they were rocked early at 46/4 in the first innings. But Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel stepped up with gritty half-centuries to bail them out of trouble, while skipper Shan Masood played a captain’s knock in the second innings. Kamran Ghulam showed promise but needs to convert his starts into meaningful contributions. All eyes will once again be on the star batter Babar Azam, the dynamic Muhammad Hurraira at the top, and the reliable Salman Agha in the middle order. Pakistan also has the option of bringing back Imam-ul-Haq for added experience. The hosts’ bowling attack was nothing short of sensational, with the spinners stealing the show. Sajid Khan was unplayable, grabbing nine wickets in the match and proving why he thrives on home turf. Abrar Ahmed and Noman Ali were equally impressive, weaving a web around the West Indies batters. With the second Test also being played in Multan, conditions are likely to favor spin again, giving Pakistan an edge. For West Indies, this is a chance to redeem themselves after letting Pakistan off the hook in the first Test. Losing all 20 wickets to spin exposed their vulnerability in these conditions. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite will need to lead by example and inspire his team to fight back. Alick Athanaze showed great resolve with a fifty in the second innings, but the rest of the batting unit, including Mikyle Louis, Keacy Carty, and Kavem Hodge, must step up and display better technique against spin. On the bowling front, Jomel Warrican was sensational with a ten-wicket haul, including a stunning seven-for. Kevin Sinclair also found success, but Gudakesh Motie, the senior spinner, will need to rise to the occasion. Jayden Seales offered glimpses of hope with his pace and bounce, but the Windies need a collective effort to challenge the hosts. Can the Windies regroup and stage a comeback to level the series? Or will Pakistan continue their dominance and complete a clinical whitewash? Stay tuned to find out!
