Right then, that is it from the game. It was a comprehensive victory for the Karachi Kings. The Pakistan Super League action continues as Quetta Gladiators takes on the Peshawar Zalmi on Monday, 20th of February. The game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT). Do join us a bit early for the build-up as well. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Imad Wasim the skipper of Karachi Kings is the player of the match. He says that he is happy with the win. Adds that he thought 160-170 would have been good on this wicket, but credits his team for getting the total that they did. Tells that they wanted to give Wade a chance at the top order as he is more effective there. Mentions that the wicket was tricky and when he was batting with Cutting, they did not want to lose wickets. Praises the bowlers and says that it was difficult to bowl yorkers so they sticked to bowling hard lengths which paid off in the end.
Shaheen Afridi the skipper of Lahore Qalandars says that it is a part of cricket. Adds that they will look to improve on their mistakes and come back stronger. Says that the team which plays better cricket wins the game. Mentions that it's a good tournament and they will give their best. Ends by saying Tahir and Zaman are the players to watch out for.
Presentations coming up...
Akif Javed is in for a quick chat. He says that Amir and Wasim Akram said to him to just do the basics right. Adds that he saw the first innings and tried to hit hard lengths which helped him. Mentions that the crowd in Karachi is brilliant and they want to keep winning for them. Ends by saying that the coach said to forget the losses and take one game at a time.
Earlier in the game, Karachi Kings got off to a flier and ran a havoc over the Lahore Qalandars bowlers. James Vince fell shy of four runs for his half-century but was brilliant with the bat. Later, their skipper Imad Wasim scored a quickfire 35 and helped the team reach to a mammoth total of 185 runs. Sikandar Raza was the only economical bowler for the Lahore Qalandars, but he remained wicketless.
Lahore Qalandars tried hard at the start but lost a wicket in the fifth over. Once the opening stand was broken, the wickets kept on tumbling for them. Mirza Tahir Baig looked good and was the only batter playing well but lost his wicket in the 13th over after scoring 45 runs. In the end, no other batters could get going and they fell like ninepins and fell short by 67 runs. They need to go back to the drawing board and comeback stronger in the next game.
Karachi Kings were excellent with the ball and they kept on picking wickets at regular intervals. They never let the Lahore Qalandars settle and kept them under pressure. Akif Javed was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged four wickets for his team. Aamer Yamin and Ben Cutting chipped two whilst Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim had one in their kitty.
Well, that was a convincing victory for the Karachi Kings. It was a brilliant performance overall from them and they have bounced back well after three losses in a row. They will look to claw their way up slowly and win their remaining games now.
