Calling it a day - That’s all from this nail-biting contest, where the Gujarat Titans somehow managed to edge out the Delhi Capitals to finally get on the board this season. Next up in IPL 2026, we move to the City of Joy with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9. The match begins at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), and you can join us early for all the build-up. Goodbye for now!
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Rashid Khan wins the award for his excellent spell of 3/17. He says that he is happy with how things panned out and he felt good bowling today. Especially after a period of being out of the game for a few months some time back, he is feeling better and trying to hit his marks. On his wickets, he says that he practiced in the nets to try and bowl from around the wicket to Axar Patel. Further mentions that GT have been a part of some really close games in the last few years and just tried to tell the pacers to bowl their best delivery no matter what.
Happy to get the first win - Shubman Gill, the victorious skipper of the Gujarat Titans, says that he is definitely relieved. Adds that all three games they have played have gone to the last over, but he is happy to get their first win. Mentions that when Miller denied the single, he thought they had the chance to win. Gill shares that they were discussing whether to go for the yorker or slower one, but went with the latter, and it worked out. Says that they were good in the field, except for his overthrow that went for five runs, and fielding makes a big difference in this format. Tells that they thought 210 was 10-15 runs above par on this surface. Ends by saying that now he just needs to sleep and see how his neck is feeling the next day.
Presentation Time...
A quick chat - GT's Jos Buttler says that it feels great to get the win, which they desperately needed. On scoring a fifty, Jos says that he feels good but he's played for long enough to know that the lean patch would go away at some point. Buttler mentions that they do have a good team and it is a long tournament, but they need to play well in order to stay in the race for the playoffs. On Rashid Khan, Buttler says that this kind of wicket suits him and he bowled really well tonight. On being 35 and staying motivated, Buttler says that he'll try to keep playing for as long as possible.
Could have played a bit smartly - Axar Patel, the captain of Delhi Capitals, says that both teams played very good cricket and in these close games, it can always go either way. Adds that in close games, you can point out a lot of things, but feels that they could have played a bit smartly to not lose wickets at crucial stages. On KL Rahul, Axar says that the way KL kept the momentum high even after the Powerplay was brilliant and hopefully, he finishes off the game next time.
Titans hold their nerve - Gujarat Titans will be more relieved than happy here. They went wicketless in the Powerplay, with none of the bowlers making an impact early on. However, it was the Afghan magician Rashid Khan who turned the game with a double-wicket over, and then removed Axar on the last ball of his spell to finish with incredible figures of 3/17. Siraj picked up the big wicket of KL Rahul but was taken for plenty in the penultimate over, while Prasidh Krishna, who also got a couple, held his nerve brilliantly, executing a superb slower bumper on the final ball. Credit also goes to Jos Buttler for hitting the stumps to complete the run-out that sealed the game.
Gill-Sundar stand sets up GT’s big total - Earlier in the game, the Gujarat Titans piled on a big total, riding on a strong top-order display and a crucial partnership in the middle. Jos Buttler provided early momentum with a quick-fire 52 off 27, but the real highlight was the 104-run stand between skipper Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar. Back from injury, Gill looked in sublime touch with a classy 70 off 45, while Sundar brought up his maiden IPL fifty in style. Delhi's bowling effort was a mixed bag - Mukesh Kumar picked up a couple but went for runs, Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi chipped in with one each, with the Protea standing out for his control, returning figures of 1/24 in an otherwise challenging outing for the attack.
One run, endless questions - David Miller, despite a thumb injury, returned to fight on and almost pulled off something special, smashing 41 off 20 and bringing the equation down to 2 off 2 from 36 needed off the final two overs. But in a moment that will be debated for a long time, he turned down a single on the penultimate ball, a decision that ultimately cost them the game, with Kuldeep run out on the final delivery as Delhi Capitals fell short by just one run.
Rahul leads the charge - Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start, with Pathum Nissanka taking charge while KL Rahul played second fiddle. It got even better as they capped the Powerplay with a 23-run over, racing to 63/0 after six. However, Nissanka fell for 41 off 24, which only pushed Rahul to shift gears as he brought up a 29-ball fifty. The game turned briefly when they were pegged back, losing Rana and, more importantly, Sameer Rizvi, who has been their hero, in the same over. That, though, didn’t deter Rahul, who kept chipping away at the target, but the real blow came when he fell for a superb 92, leaving them in a tough spot.
Drama till the very end - An absolute rollercoaster of a game in the Capital City, and surely one of the best this season. It had everything - twists, drama, and high-pressure moments, as the Gujarat Titans pulled a rabbit out of the hat, although in all honesty, it was served on a platter to them, and importantly, they get their first win of the season. It's still hard to fathom how Delhi Capitals let this slip, and that call from Miller to turn down the single on the penultimate ball will be talked about for a long time.

Prasidh Krishna To David Miller OUT!
OUT! KULDEEP YADAV IS RUN OUT! Unbelievable end to the game, GT WIN BY 1 RUN. A slower bumper from Prasidh Krishna, a gutsy delivery to bowl, but he gets it right. The ball is just outside off and at helmet height. David Miller has to reach for it but is undone by the lack of pace and the extra bounce. The ball bounces behind to the keeper and the batters try to sneak in a bye. Jos Buttler, who had taken off his right glove before this delivery for this particular scenario, gets his opportunity to win the game and he underarms the throw at the stumps to perfection at the striker's end. Yadav dives but in vain. However, the drama isn't over there as Miller reviews it for a wide for height but replays suggest that it is a fair delivery. Miller is heartbroken, and the GT players are ecstatic.
It is all happening. Gujarat Titans are celebrating here, with Kuldeep Yadav being run out. However, David Miller has taken the review for a wide over head height. If it is, we will have another ball, or else it's a 1-run win for the Titans. The replay and Ball Tracking confirm it is below Miller's head, and he is devastated. We have seen that glum face of Miller before, in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Rabada, quickly goes to his South African mate, and has his hand wrapped around Miller's shoulder. Great camaraderie.
That is a brave call! It could have been 1 off 1, but it seems like Miller does not trust Kuldeep Yadav that much. Still, all three results are possible here.

Prasidh Krishna To David Miller
Oh, wow! What a surprising decision. David Miller could have and probably should have levelled the scores here but he denies the single. Slower short ball, angled at the batter, Miller swivels back and pulls it down through square leg. The batters start running, but Miller sends Kuldeep back. 2 needed off 1 ball now.

6
Prasidh Krishna To David Miller
SIX! 'If it's in the V, it's in the tree.' Krishna serves another one in the slot, just outside off, and with pace on as well. David Miller sets base deep in the crease and just powers through the line of the ball, whacking it up and away over long off for a biggie. Just 2 needed now off 2 balls. Super Over, anyone?

1
Prasidh Krishna To Kuldeep Yadav
Back of a length and in the channel outside off, Kuldeep Yadav runs it down to deep third and picks up a single. 8 needed now off 3 balls.
The slowing down tactics have worked for the Gujarat Titans. Kuldeep Yadav comes out to the middle now. His job is to get Miller back on strike.

Prasidh Krishna To Vipraj Nigam OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Vipraj Nigam tries to force the lofted shot away but that's well bowled and GT are right back in it. Prasidh Krishna brings out the slower bumper and gets it around shoulder height and just outside off. Nigam backs away and tries to go over covers, as there's no one out in the deep but ends up getting more height than distance. Shubman Gill at covers, backtracks and takes a safe catch. 9 needed off 4 balls.
Shubman Gill gets around to his bowler again, and the Gujarat Titans are trying to slow the game down here.

Prasidh Krishna To Vipraj Nigam
FOUR! The Capitals are in a hurry now. Still, 9 needed off 5 balls. Full on off, right in the slot with mid off inside the circle. Vipraj Nigam stays deep in the crease and smashes it over extra cover for a boundary.
Last over coming up now. Have to say Delhi Capitals are in the driver's seat, but all three results are still possible. To make matters worse for the Gujarat Titans, they have been penalised for slow over rate and will have to keep an extra fielder inside the circle. Prasidh Krishna has been handed the ball to try and defend the runs.

A juicy full toss, angled into the batter. Nigam backs away and ends up flicking it down to deep backward square leg for a run. 13 needed now off 6 deliveries.

Mohammed Siraj To Vipraj Nigam
FOUR! That is so nicely done by Nigam, 22 off the over with one ball to go. All the momentum with DC at the moment. Slower bumper, over off stump, Nigam waits well and puts his bat up, ramping it straight over the keeper's head. There is a fine third man in place but he can't reach it.

1
Mohammed Siraj To David Miller
Short of a length, over middle, pulled down to deep mid-wicket for a run.
Time for a conference. Shubman Gill has gone up to Mohammed Siraj now, but the look on their faces tells they are the ones under pressure now.

6
Mohammed Siraj To David Miller
SIX! In the arc, and out of the park. Miller doesn't even look at the ball after hitting it. Full and straight from Siraj, right in the slot. Miller puts the head down and hits through the line, high and mighty over long on for a biggie. 19 needed now off 9 balls.
18.2
4
Mohammed Siraj To David Miller
FOUR! Miller is putting the pressure back on Siraj. Too full and too wide outside off, Miller uses those long levers to reach out and slaps it flat over extra cover for a boundary. It almost hits the cushions on the full, but the smart replays confirm it has just bounced before.
18.1
6
Mohammed Siraj To David Miller
SIX! The game is still alive! Banged in short and outside off, Siraj doesn't get it short enough. David Miller picks up the slower ball and nails the pull handsomely in front of mid-wicket for a biggie. 29 needed now off 11 balls.
