Medium-pacer Praveen Kumar, one of the stars of India's tri-series win against Australia, will be honoured by the UP government.

Medium-pacer Praveen Kumar, one of the stars of India's tri-series win against Australia, would be conferred with the Kanshiram Khel Ratna award by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Praveen, who hails from Meerut, would be given a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, Chief Minister Mayawati told Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.

She said Tanmay Srivastav and Iqbal Abdulla, members of the Under-19 Indian cricket team which won the Youth World Cup in Malaysia, would be given Rs five lakh each for their performance.

Tanmay hails from the state capital while Abdulla belongs to Azamgarh.
