...THE RUN CHASE…

!
Australia Women would be pretty disappointed with this bowling effort. They pulled things back a bit in the middle overs after India got off to a quick start with Ellyse Perry getting rid of Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues in quick succession. Annabel Sutherland and Alana King bowled decently in the middle overs along with Ashleigh Gardner but there was always a boundary ball in between which the Indian batters made sure to take full advantage of. However, India smashed 57 in the last five overs which included 18 off the last over from the experienced Megan Schutt and now it is up to the Australian batters to win them this game. Let's see how they go about their business in this run-chase.

The Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has emphasised time and again in the recent past that they want to play an aggressive brand of cricket which is exactly what we saw from Indian batters today. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana came out all guns blazing in the Powerplay and by the time Verma departed on 21 off just 10 balls, the pressure was on Australia. However, Jemimah Rodrigues departed for a duck and Smriti Mandhana who played a quick eye-catching knock departed in the 8th over. Kaur and Devika Vaidya then steadied the ship but India lost their skipper just when she was trying to explode. However, young Richa Ghosh came out with great intent and played a brilliant cameo of 36 off just 20 balls and Deepti Sharma then carried that momentum as she smashed 36 off just 15 deliveries to take India to a huge total here.

!
A brilliant batting display from India! Take a bow, Deepti Sharma! She has played a blinder here to take India over 170. India will be pretty happy with this score but the pitch is quite good to bat on and Australia have a dangerous batting line-up. However, India will surely go into the break as a happier side.
