Shiv Sena has termed cricketer Harbhajan Singh and sacked IHF chief KPS Gill as "two sides of the same coin".

Mumbai:

The Shiv Sena on Wednesday termed cricketer Harbhajan Singh and sacked IHF chief KPS Gill as "two sides of the same coin who display streak of dictatorship which goes against the spirit of the game".

In an editorial in party mouthpiece Samana, the Sena said both these personalities have lowered their dignity by their behaviour -- Harbhajan by slapping Sreesanth and Gill by not resigning from the post of IHF chief, despite India not qualifying for the Olympics.

On Harbhajan, the editorial said the manner in which he slapped Sreesanth was totally "unacceptable" and that these aggressive tendencies, which were unheard in Indian cricket, were now creeping in.

"It is usual to witness sledging or teasing opponents to destabilise them. But Indian cricketers did not have these tendencies. But of late, it is creeping in Indian cricket," the editorial said.

Harbhajan paid a heavy price for failing to keep his aggressive behaviour under control, costing him nearly Rs three crore and casting a question mark on his future, the editorial said.

It said what happened to Harbhajan should be a lesson for Sreesanth too as he also has the same tendency to allow emotions to overtake reason.

About Gill, the editorial said there was no second opinion on his reputation as a tough "no-nonsense cop", who was instrumental in stamping out terrorism from Punjab. But as IHF chief, he was a failure.

He has also lowered his dignity by not resigning gracefully, it added.
