Mumbai:

Two officials of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) visited the D Y Patil stadium at Nerul, Navi Mumabi, to see first hand whether it can stage a Test match between England and India later this year.

"They visited the stadium yesteday and were happy with the facilities. We now have one more option to stage the diamond jubilee Test in Mumbai between the two countries because, Wankhede stadium, our regular venue, will not be available as it is being revamped," BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnanakar Shetty said here tonight.

"CCI president and former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur is keen to have the match at Cricket Club of India (Brabourne Stadium). It's up to the Mumbai Cricket Association to decide on the venue to host the match," Shetty explained.

There is some doubt over Brabourne stadium hosting the match following its non-availibility for conducting any of the matches featuring Mumbai Indians team in the ongoing IPL.

England are to play a two Test series and best of seven one-day series against India in November-December.

The DY Patil stadium at Nerul is to host five IPL league matches.
