Akhtar to undergo fitness test

Pakistan face an anxious 24 hours over the fitness of Shoaib Akhtar ahead of the 2nd Test that gets underway in Kolkata on Friday.

New Delhi:

Pakistan face an anxious 24 hours over the fitness of key bowler Shoaib Akhtar ahead of the 2nd Test that gets underway at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.

The Rawalpindi Express, who was released from a local hospital on Wednesay is believed to be improving but a final decision is only expected to be taken only after the team physio assesses his fitness sometime later today.

Shoaib was hospitalised because of a chest infection and was on antibiotics.

Pakistan has more sickness and injury problems.

Shoaib Malik is nursing a sore ankle while Misbah ul haq and Mohammad Sami are also recovering from a viral infection.
