fter the first round of attempts Jhandu lifts 190kg. His first attempt was 181kg. He has 130.9 points. The next best in the group is Uganda's Dennis MBAZIIRA with 112.8 points.

Nataraj finishes 11th in Men's 50m backstroke semi-finals with a timing of 25.29 seconds. The top eight who qualified for the final had a timing of less than 25 seconds. 

Srihari Nataraj is in action in 50m backstroke semifinals. He has a tough task at hand. In  the first semi-final, four swimmers for sub-25 second timing. 

India's Jhandu Kumar (Group B) has set 181kg as his first attempt. He will be the last one to take his first attempt.

The Para Powerlifting MEN'S HEAVYWEIGHT final has started. Two Indians Jhandu Kumar (Group B) and Sudhir (Group A) are in action. In the pool, India's Srihari Nataraj will be aiming for a final spot in men's 50m backstroke. 

Budigina put up a brave show but finished 4th. At the 50m mark, Budigina was fifth and then he tried to make a comeback in the last 50m, but Mathew Redfern was faster.

Para swimmers Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam's men's S13 final is over. Budigina narrowly misses out on a medal as he finished 4th (57.57 seconds) while Imam was seventh (1:03.73). No medals here too!!

All is not lost for India though. Para swimmers Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam will soon be in men's 100m freestyle S13 final, while Olympian Srihari Nataraj will eye a men's 50m backstroke final spot.

That's a very poor display by Kasthuri Rajamani. She fails to lift 112kg in her third attempt too. She failed in all her attempts. India will return empty handed from Para Powerlifting WOMEN'S HEAVYWEIGHT event.

Kasthuri disappoints in her second attempt too. She fails to lift 111kg. She has set 112kg as her last attempt. However, it may not be enough for a medal. Currently this is how the top-three looks

India's Putul Sonowal does it again! Against Falkland Islands' Cecil Alexander, he dug deep to win the match in tiebreak. He took the match 7-5, 6-8, 1-0. That's two wins in two matches for the Asian Championship winner. 

That's a flat start for India's Kasthuri Rajamani. She fails to lift 111kg on her first attempt. The Paris Paralympics eighth-place finisher will need to do better

The Group B of the Para Powerlifting WOMEN'S HEAVYWEIGHT has ended. After the three attempts, there is a change in the top-three line-up. Kasthuri Rajamani is in Group A.

India's Jadumani Singh beats Scotland's Aaron Cullen to advance to the Round of 16 in the men's 55kg boxing event at the Commonwealth Games 2026. 

Jadumani Singh knows he is dominating this contest. The pugilist is keeping his distance from his opponent, adopting a defensive approach and inching closer to victory. Aaron Cullen continues to chase the Indian.

Jadumani Singh continues to be solid in defence while being selective with his attacking approach. He lands some good punches in the second round as well. The Indian takes the second round too with a unanimous verdict.

The Group B of the Para Powerlifting WOMEN'S HEAVYWEIGHT has produced some intersting results. After the first two attempts, this is how the top three looks like. Kasthuri Rajamani is in Group A.

There are some quick moves on offer from both Jadumani Singh and Aaron Cullen. Both players have got a good footwork. Jadumani relied heavily on his crosses and hooks to keep Cullen in check in the first round. The Indian dominates the phase.

A set of jabs and crosses from Jadumani Singh, and he takes an early advantage against his opponent from Scotland. As I type this, Jadumani gets hit by a cross. Nice anticipation from Aaron Cullen, and he gets his reward.

India's Jadumani Singh is set to take on Scotland's Aaron Cullen in Men's 55kg Round of 32 boxing clash. Both players are getting ready for the clash.

India's Kasthuri Rajamani, whose body weight is 65.5 kg, is set to attempt 111 kg from a rack height of 11 in her first attempt. It is worth noting that she is the only Indian competing in the women's event.

The Para Powerlifting Women's Heavyweight final has started. India's Kasthuri Rajamani is in action. She had finished eighth at the Paris Paralympics. She is in Group A.

After a brief break, the live action has resumed, and it's lawn bowls. Potul Sonowal, who defeated world champion Ryan Bester in the men's singles sectional play, is facing the Falkland Islands' Cecil Alexander. The latter has taken an early lead.

India beat South Africa in a dominant display to notch their second consecutive win in Lawn Bowls Women's Pairs event in the Commonwealth Games on Friday. The Indian pair of Rupa Rani Tirkey (lead) and Pinki Singh (skip) beat the South Africans 2-0 (6-4, 7-5) in their second match in section B at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Hall 3.

The South Africans Thabelo Muvhango (lead) and Jacqui Janse van Rensburg (skip) made a gritty fight but found the Indians too good on the day. The Indian pair currently tops section B standings.

India's hopes for a medal from the WOMEN'S LIGHTWEIGHT Para Powerlifting event is over. Suman Devi failed to lift 103 kg in her third attempt. She finishes seventh with 88.4 points while Jaspreet Kaur with 96.4 points finishes sixth.

Suman Devi fails to lift 103kg in the second attempt. She is currenly 7th overall.

The Group A has started and India's Suman Devi lifts 100kg in her first attempt. It places her at 88.4 points. Nigeria's Esther NWORGU in on top with 114.1 points while Kenya's Hellen Wawira KARIUKI is currently second with 104.4 points. England's Olivia BROOME is third with 103.0 points.

The Group B has finished and Jaspreet has improved on her first lift. In her third attempt, Jaspreet lifted 100kg (which is more than twice her bodyweight 45.4 kg). Her point is 96.4.  

After the second round of lifts, Jaspreet Kaur continues to lead but she failed in her second attempt (104kg). Her accuutaled point is 91.6. Cameroon's Suzanne Menye M'eto is second with  87.9. In para powerlifting, the ranks are decided by a coefficient of points based on the competitor's weight and the weight they have lifted.

Meanwhile, in the artistic gymnastics event, India lead the standings with a total of 208.550 after the end of Subdivisions 1 and 2. Subdivision 3 features teams such as England, Australia, Canada, Scotland, Cyprus, and Wales. Whether or not India win a medal will depend on how these top teams perform.

In the individual events, Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh are No. 3 and No. 4 in the all-around standings with scores of 71.700 and 71.400, respectively. They will also have to wait for the results of Subdivision 3. Tapaswaranath Das is No. 11 with a score of 61.000.

In Group B, Jaspreet Kaur is performing well. She is on top after the first round of attempts. She lifted 95kg on her first attempt, the highest among all competitors in the group. This has placed her at the top with 91.6 points. She has taken a big lead, with the next-best competitor on 65.2 points. However, the real contest will begin in Group A, where the more elite lifters will be competing.

Women's lightweight powerlifting is coming up. In Group B, India will be represented by Jaspreet Kaur. She will aim to lift 98kg with her first lift. In Group A, Suman Debvi is competing.

In lawn bowls (women's pairs), India's experienced pair of Pinki Singh and Rupa Rani Tirkey are in action.

Ashok too fails in his final attempt of 205kg. Not the finish he would have expected his journey to finish. at the 2026 CWG is over. He finishes seventh among 12 competitors with 135.6. Ashok Kumar Malik, who is nine-time national champion and an Asian Games medalist, had hit 200kg, a personal best. The fourth-place finisher in the World Championships finishes fourth here too.

Parmjeet fails to lift 179kg in his final attempt. His journey at the 2026 CWG is over. He finishes seventh among 12 competitors with 135.6.

Not looking good for Indians. Parmjeet fails to clear the second attempt of 179 and lies sixth. Ashok did clear the second attempt (200kg) but is still 4th with 143.8 points.   

After the first attempts, India's Ashok amd Parmjeet are at the 4th and sixth place. Ashok has 140.2 points while Parmjeet has 135.6 points. Nigeria's Ronald Ezuruike is at the top spot wuith 153.9 points. 

Action starts in para powerlifting men's lightweight final. India Ashok and Parmjeet Kumar are competing. They are in contention for final.

India's Tapeshwarnath Das, Swathish KP, Tapan Mohanty, and Yogeshwar Singh are in action in the artistic gymnastics event, which is currently underway.

Team India will be in action in artistic gymnastics next. Tapeshwarnath Das, Swathish KP, Tapan Mohanty, and Yogeshwar Singh will compete in the men's team and individual rounds, which are set to begin in less than 10 minutes from now.

Some more good news for India! Their medal prospect, Srihari Nataraj, has finished fifth in his men's 50m backstroke heats. He achieves it with a time of 25.52 seconds to enter the semi-finals. The swimmer will next be in action around 12:30 AM IST on Saturday.

India's CWG debutants Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam have made it to the final of the men's 100m freestyle S13 event. This category is for athletes who are visually impaired. Budigina finished third in the heats with a time of 57.10 seconds. On the other hand, Ali, who actually competes in the S12 category, secured the final qualifying spot with a time of 1:05.32.

The final event is set to be held around midnight today.

Birmingham Commonwealth Games silver-medallist judoka Tulika Maan has been withdrawn from the ongoing Glasgow edition after being handed a provisional suspension by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for three whereabouts failures in the last 12 months, said a PTI report.

Maan had won silver in the 78kg category in the 2022 edition and she was a strong medal prospect in Glasgow as well.

"She has committed three whereabouts failures in a 12-month period and NADA has sent notice to her. So, she will be withdrawn from the team," a judo coach told PTI on conditions of anonymity. On Thursday, another judoka, Arun Kumar (-73kg) was withdrawn for failing an out-of-competition dope test.

The Indian judo team has not yet left for the Games as its competition schedule will kick off on July 31. The judokas are scheduled to depart on July 27.

"We've received the draw, and in Lovlina's weight category there are five boxers. She has a favourable draw and will go directly into the semifinals, where she will face Tuvalu. They have sparred before in Belfast, and we're confident that Lovlina is operating at a higher level. That said, she's a tough opponent and a southpaw, so we need to be fully prepared and perform at our best. On paper, our main rivals England and Australia are on the other side of the draw and will face each other in the semifinals. While the draw is favourable for us, achieving our goal will require us to beat whoever comes our way," said coach Santiago Nieva.

Due to the shift in schedule for Men's Artistic Gymnastics, India's campaign today will now begin with Para-Swimming. RVVBK Budigina and Ali Imam will be in action in the men's 100m freestyle S13, followed by the final later in the night. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:40 PM IST.
