As many as nine Indian shooters will be in action on Saturday with a lot of focus on Rahi Sarnobat in the 25 metre pistol event. Rahi won two gold medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 23-year-old from Kolhapur will attempt to swell India's medal tally here. Rahi and Anisa Sayyed will team up again to defend their 2010 gold once again.
Rahi is among the current crop of shooters who have dominated world events. Last year in April, Rahi scripted history by becoming the first Indian pistol shooter to clinch a gold medal in the ISSF World Cup when she pipped local hope Kyeongae Kim 8-6 in the final of the 25m sports pistol event in Changwon, Korea.
Rahi joined the elite club of rifle shooters -- Anjali Bhagwat, Gagan Narang, Sanjeev Rajput, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Ronjan Sodhi and Manavjit Singh Sandhu -- who have won gold medals in the ISSF World Cups for India.
Almost half-a-dozen weighty judokas will be on show today. Indian judokas failed to replicate their opening day performance with Sunibala Huidrom missing out on a bronze medal in the women's 70 kg event losing to Sally Conway of Scotland.
In power events, a lot of focus will be on the boxer Vijender Singh. The 28-year-old Bhiwani man, who has starred in a Bollywood movie, Fugly, will fight in 75 kg class. Another Indian stalwart, Manoj Kumar will be in action in the 64kg class. Of the seven men, only Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Olympic bronze-medallist Vijender were a part of the super-successful team in the 2010 Games.
Manoj was among the three gold medallists, while the more fancied and more famous Vijender had settled for a rather controversial bronze in Delhi. "No matter what the circumstances, we are prepared for everything," said Vijender, India's first Olympic and world championships medal winner.

Sardar Singh's India were rather unimpressive in their 3-1 win against Wales in men's hockey on Friday. A sluggish India produced better hockey after the breather to get past a resolute Wales defence. But their overall performance was rather shoddy.
Ranked ninth in the world, India scored two goals through penalty corner conversions by V R Raghunath (20th minute) and Rupinder Pal Singh (42nd) before comeback man Gurvinder Singh Chandi scored a field goal in the 47th minute. India will play hosts Scotland today, while Wales will be up against world champions and reigning Commonwealth Games champions Australia.
