All eyes will be on India's top shooters, especially Abhinav Bindra, who will be playing his fifth and final Commonwealth Games.
Having won a staggering 30 medals, including 14 gold, in the last edition of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the expectation will understandably be high from the shooters who will be converging at the Barry Buddon Shooting Range.

Although no medals are at stake in boxing, Indian pugilists will have to overcome administrative controversies to prove their merit. With seven medals, three of them gold and four bronze, Indian boxers had scaled an unprecedented high in the 2010 edition of the Games in front of adoring and vociferous home fans in Delhi.
In Glasgow, the Indians were initially barred from having their coaches as ringside seconds here due to the federation's termination. But the International Boxing Association (AIBA) relented after some time, much to their relief. The Indian team this time comprises seven men and three women. The women will be making their Commonwealth Games debut.
Of the seven men, only Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Olympic bronze-medallist Vijender Singh (75kg) were part of the super-successful team of the previous edition. Manoj was among the three gold-medallists, while the more fancied and more famous Vijender had settled for a rather controversial bronze in Delhi.
Judo and weightlifting grabbed the spotlight on Day 1. India could win more medals here. India's Balvinder Singh will compete in the 73 kg class while Vikender Singh will play the 81 kg category. Sunibala Huidrom (70 kg) and Garima Choudhary (63 kg) will the women judokas in action.
Indian men start their campaign in hockey too. After a horrible ninth finish in the FIH World Cup in The Hague, Sardar Singh's men will look to salvage some pride in the Commonwealth Games. They start against Wales but will come up against world champions Australia later in the group stage. South Africa and hosts Scotland are the other teams in India's group. In Pool B, England, New Zealand, Malaysia, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago will fight it out for two places in the knockout phase.
India come into the Glasgow Games as reigning silver medallists, having been humiliated 8-nil by Australia in the final of the 2010 edition in New Delhi. After Australia, the ninth-ranked Indians are the favourites to progress to the semi-finals from Pool A with South Africa (13th ranked) posing an outside challenge.
