She punched her way to a historic gold in Asian Games and Mary Kom wants her astonishing feat to be featured in a sequel to her biopic.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the celebrated boxer feels her achievements in Olympics and Asian Games should be included in a sequel to 'Mary Kom.' (Watch: Priyanka Chopra Excited About Mary Kom's Gold)
"I would like my biopic to have a part two. This one did not include my preparations for Olympics, qualifying rounds and my victory," Mary Kom said. "It would be nice if they include the Olympics and Asian Games victories in the second part."
Her triumph in Asian Games once again showed why Mary Kom is India's pride and has become Bollywood's toast. Despite her numerous international achievements, an Asian Games gold had always eluded her. All of that changed in Incheon (South Korea) where her rich experience in the sport was on ample display.
In each of her bouts, the 31-year-old studied her opponent before launching herself against her. Even in the bout for gold, the world number five was a class apart against Zhaina Shekerbekova of Kazakhstan. Mary, a mother of three said she was thankful to all the support from her friends in the film industry.
"They (actor Priyanka Chopra and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali) have cooperated and have been extremely supportive. That's also a reason that I could win. Otherwise, it would have been very hard for me."
Mary Kom had already promised to settle for nothing less than a gold at Asian Games and she delivered on her promise. It was an achievement celebrated by an entire country - led by Priyanka Chopra. "So proud of u @mangtec u r a true champ!! My Shero! Be #Unbeatable Be #Unbreakable Be #MaryKom," the actor had tweeted minutes after Mary's final bout.
While accolades continue to flow in for her, Mary Kom has no plans of resting on her achievements. "My plan is to go to world championships and use that to qualify for the Olympics," she revealed recently.
