Indian shuttler HS Prannoy crashed out in the semi-final of the USD 120,000 Bitburger Open after going down to lower-ranked Scott Evans of Ireland in the men's singles event in Saarbrucken, Germany today.
World number 32 Prannoy lost in straight games 16-21, 10-21 to the 11th seeded Evans, who just took 33 minutes to warp up the match and secure his place in the summit clash of the Grand Prix Gold tournament.
The win also helped Evans level his career record to one apiece against the seventh seeded Indian.
Prannoy, who had reached the Vietnam Open final and won the Indonesian Masters in September, started the match as clear favourites but but the World number 35 Irish shuttler dished out a superlative display to sent packing the Indian.
