Nehwal, Murgunde in last eight
Saina Nehwal and Trupti Murgunde stormed into the quarterfinals of the Asian Satellite Badminton Championship.

In a mixed day for Indian shuttlers, Saina Nehwal and Trupti Murgunde stormed into the quarterfinals but the challenge in the men's section came to an end in the Asian Satellite Badminton Championship in Singapore today.
Murgunde defeated Ngoc Nguyen Nhung Le of Vietnam 11-0 13-12 in 30 minutes while Nehwal required three quarters of an hour to overcome the challenge of Yi Ju Chiu of Chinese Taipei 11-8 3-11 13-12 in the second round.
Nehwal will now play top seed Li Li of Singapore while Murunde will lock horns with second seed Salakjit Polsana of Thailand in the last eight.
The Indian challenge in the men's singles came to an end with the loss of Anup Sridhar in the third round.
Sridhar went down fighting to fifth seed Yogendran Krishnan of Malaysia 14-17 6-15.
Other two Indians in the fray, Arvind Bhat and JBS Vidyadhar were eliminated from the tournament in the second round late last night.
Vidyadhar was made to bite the dust by Mohammed Nazree Latifi of Malaysia 5-15 9-15 while Bhat bowed out after losing to Saman Ismail of the same country 3-15 14-17. (PTI)
