Preview
# World number 4 Saina Nehwal will take to the court for the first time in front of her home crowd in the Indian Badminton League (IBL) as table-toppers Hyderabad Hotshots face bottom-placed Banga Beats here on Tuesday.
# While it will be an opportunity for Hotshots to consolidate their position, the visitors would look to play for pride.
# After their 1-4 loss to Delhi Smashers on Sunday, the Bangalore side now has just nine points from one win and three losses in four ties.
# Banga Beats boast of a balanced line-up, including icon player Parupalli Kashyap, world number 8 Hun Yu and rising star Tai Tzu Ying. But the men's singles players have not been consistent and it has proved to be their bane.
# The presence of stars like Saina, veteran Taufik Hidayat and the young Ajay Jayaram in the rival camp will only make things difficult for the visitors.
# Also, doubles specialists V Shem Goh, Khim Wah Lim, Tarun Kona and Pradnya Gadre in the opposition may prove to be too much for the Banga Beats.
Yesterday's result

# The Lucknow-based team bagged four points with the win and top the standings with 16 points. The Pistons too are on 16 but have lost more games in the tournament.
# In the opening men's singles rubber, Warriors' K. Srikanth gave his team a 1-0 lead as he beat Saurabh Verma 21-18, 21-16.
# In the women's singles category, P.V. Sindhu won the match in straight games against Pune Pistons' Juliane Schenk. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead as their icon player won 21-20, 21-20.
# Mathias Boe and Markis Kido of the Warriors won their men's doubles rubber against Arun Vishnu and Sanave Thomas 21-15, 21-16 to seal the tie 3-0.
# The Pistons came back well and won the second men's singles and mixed doubles rubbers and qualified for the semifinals along with their opponents.
Playing rules
# The standard two-point gap to win a game has been abandoned in favour of a race to 21 points for the first two games and 11 points for the decider, if needed. There will also be a minute's break after the seventh and 14th points in the first two games and after the sixth point in the decider.
# All ties, including the August 31 final in Mumbai, will have five matches -- two men's singles, and one each in women's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles.
# Each team, comprising four foreign players, six Indians and one upcoming Indian junior, will play on a home-and-away basis in the preliminary league, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals.
