Some of our trainees from our Pune Centre were also here. So in all, about 30 students of different age groups, starting from 10 to 25 years old have benefitted by his presence. Even we as coaches have learnt a lot from him," said former All-England Champion Prakash Padukone."I have heard that he coaches the coaches in China. So he must be really good. The important thing I learnt from this were different footwork techniques to get to the shuttle and also some multi-feet techniques with which we can get to the shuttle really fast," said Arvind Bhat, one of the trainees.Besides Chinese players, Jiang Yong Yi, who is the Vice President of the Shanghai Badminton Association, has coached youngsters in Japan, USA, Finland, Malaysia, Pakistan and Colombo."It is nice to know that Indian players are training so hard. But I think it is not enough. It should be more if you want to achieve a higher level. This is also time for a lot of footwork training, net training and learning how to come to the best line," said Yong Yi.Padukone said that he wants to make the visit an annual affair that would last at least for four to six weeks. The former champion said that Yong Yi had brought a different dimension to the whole programme and now the Academy was also considering sending selected players to his center in Shanghai.
