Sai Praneeth clinched a silver medal as he suffered a 13-21, 8-21 loss to World No. 1 Kento Momota of Japan in the men's singles semi-finals on Saturday. Earlier, PV Sindhu made light work of Chen Yu Fei in the women's singles semi-finals, decimating her Chinese opponent to march into her third straight BWF World Championships final. PV Sindhu took just 40 minutes to thrash the number four seed 21-7, 21-14 on Saturday. Sai Praneeth became the first Indian male shuttler in 36 years to grab a podium in the prestigious event in Switzerland. World No. 19 Praneeth, who got the Arjuna Award this year, notched up a 24-22 21-14 win over Asian Games gold medallist Jonatan in a 51-minute battle, joining Prakash Padukone in the medal list at the tournament on Friday.Â
